I’m always trying to get better at this game, and I was wondering what are some things I could improve upon to rank up.

ranked and matchmaking is so bad you literally have ow1 hard stuck plat players being gm in ow2 its insane.

What separates them is luck. Some accounts get chosen to be boosted by blizzard, some don’t. You want gm? Just keep creating new accounts and one is bound to get boosted to gm.

Remembering what the objective of the match is (achieving a goal, not just kills and plays), reducing your deaths, ult tracking more often, identifying tempo more consistently, greater map knowledge…
Even before the current MM, it wasn’t terribly hard to get to Diamond. You could do it primarily off reflex and some conservative choices overall.

If they got that rank before s3 or not.
My fav clip is from ml7, seeing a silver player hit top500 in I think it was 3-4 hours from 1 season to the next. And the kicker is with under 20% win rate.

Or you could accept the fact that a large portion of OW’s original playerbase is gone, so the overall skill of the playerbase has gone down. Ranks are percentage based. It’s not about how good you are, it’s about how many people you’re better than.
GM never miss a shot, get bob every 20 seconds and always have a pocket mercy

Cooldown tracking is part of the game and perfectly fair not doing it is on the diamond player.
Just to clarify I am diamond and don’t track very well so ya that is why I am diamond and not masters or gm and I know that.

Lol true, especially for flankers.
I dropped but I’ve reached mid-diamond a couple times now, just playing a couple times a week when I cared about ranking up.
My biggest flaws are properly ult tracking/cd tracking.
I’d also argue shot calling like people say “as you climb the game starts to become ayed more as a team game”
A lot of people will say that shot calling dosen’t matter without actually mentioning how “they” shot call which is the biggest difference.
I main support and people play sooooo much differently when Im not only calling shots but Im giving them the neccesary tools and enabling them to play like they’ve never played before, I’ve played with soooo many scared as heck Reinhardts/tanks in general who act like they’ve never felt good heals in there entire lives (dps as well).
Sure now I can be this amazing ml7 player and just kill 5 every fight and blah blah blah and do this and that and like yeah coms bad I’m already this amazing gm player. But I’m not and me doing that dosen’t help the players around me get better either. Heck probably worse, because that rein or whatever tank Im with will swear up and down they won’t ever feel not only heals that good but a bap that can get heals that good as well.
But they gotta act like they have me in all there other games otherwise there just gonna keep setting back doing nothing thinking its the rest of there team throwing meanwhile there sitting back watching the sun sit.

In OW1, the difference between Diamond and GM was that most players that made it to Masters generally reached a consistency with their play where outside of game mastery (mechanics, game sense, and positioning), major misplays were very rare and players generally played with the macro game in mind, having plans for how ults are used/countered and what they’d do to make the fight wins happen. GM was further overall game mastery where most players left almost no room to be punished and generally had one of game sense/positioning/mechanics completely down pat. Almost every GM will have completely mastered their main hero and will know how every matchup works, being able to adapt their play into just about any situation.
In OW2, Diamond vs Masters/GM is just a modest amount of improvement in overall gameplay. OW2 GM players are just OW2 Diamond players with a bit more refinement in their play. Literally just work on improving your core gameplay and macro-level thinking, start being a bit more proactive, and you’ll have zero issue hitting GM as long as you grind it out. The bar really isn’t high anymore.
