What players say, and what players do

Players: If we could play with 2 tanks, we’d play tank more.
Players in OWC: I’m going to be our 4th or 5th DPS/Sym.

Something tells me I know how the other 6v6 tests will go…

Thats because the vast majority of OW players are DPS players, its the turn your brain off and blame everyone else class.

I was more referring to what I’ve seen said online vs what I’ve seen in game

Well, yeah. When they say 6v6 will fix tanking, it means that SOMEONE ELSE will surely pick up tanking so they don’t have to.

Just like all the assurances that 6v6 will cause this mass return of tank players to the game. When the truth is, most of them quit playing tank back in 6v6 OW1 because tanks got nerfed to Narnia to keep dps players engaged.

Which WILL happen again, btw.

It’s pure copium.

The thing that was said and the thing that was done are from two different people. There are plenty of people who are definitely willing to play tank when its not solo tanking. That doesnt mean that bringing back the option to pick 2 tanks suddenly means every game will have two tanks in it.

Owc no linits wasn’t not quite 6v6 tests

Also tank stacking during the launch patch is likely the worst time to ever stack tanks. There isn’t healing to be able to keep them alive.

Now if you go to normal open queue where tank stacking is strong, you will frequently see 2+.

But it gives the option to play 2 tanks, which is what people said they wanted. It can be used as their proof is what I mean, and if there was always 2 tanks, guaranteed they’d be shouting about it from the roof tops

2-2-2 is still the optimal setup, but you are lucky to even see 1 tank sometimes (and solo heals to boot in that case)

Ive seen waaaaaaaaaay too many 222 teams handily beaten by supposed non-optimal comps - including 060 - to ever believe 222 is THE optimal comp

I should have added: Assuming player skill is equal

I have seen what i described occur with equal teams

Many many many times

Yea, and on that patch I don’t blame ppl. If they picked a different ow1 patch with more supports and not in their clunky states, we would see more tanks and supports being picked. Dps is already the most played role, and feel by far the best in owc.

My case is that no one wants to play support. I ended up playing 10 games straight without a support. The neat part is, win rate was 50:50 because the other teams too had zero support

I play a lot of support and tank in OWC but every once in a while I say screw it and play DPS.

Though I also treat it as a super casual mode and am not bothered if we lose.

2, 3 tanks were always in OQ , its not only about tanks

Even in a mode people have to essentially look for to play, you still get DPS heavy teams

This is exactly why Rein/Hog/Zarya are so decent. Zarya is literally a DPS that has the ability to block damage for others. Roadhog can be his own healer. Rein can provide the spot healing.

Something like Rein/Zarya/Hog/Mercy is actually a pretty damn stable team since its so much chunk and defenses to have to get through. Even Zarya has her own shield health too to recover with after a bout.

There are still very clearly very good and bad characters in OWC. Cass is arguably the best overall DPS in the mode. No fall off. Stun. Burst against tanks. Its a very easy and stable team to run.

Right, and mass rez too on 2-3 tanks possibly as well.
