What Mcree would look like if he got the Mercy treatment

Mcree’s flashbang is moved to the interact key.
Mcree’s ult ’High Noon’ is now on his e ability.
But instead, he can only choose to lock onto 1 person (current Mercy can only rez 1 person at a time)
It cannot be cancelled by himself unless he gets CC’ed (again, like current Mercy)
The ult still lights him up to the enemy team (Mercy 3.0 gets a very noticeable sound effect when she uses rez, in addition to a big glowing yellow, symbolizing the ally’s soul, her bright golden wings spreading and her hitbox becoming 1.5x larger because of her wings. This will also make flanking using this ability not worth since it can only get 1 person. Thus, Mcree would need to have his team keeping him safe enough for him to get the lock on)
It has a 30s cd

Dev comments: We do not like that Mcree’s ult incentivizes ‘Hide and High Noon.’ Thus, we made it so that it is not worth it for him to hide for a while to take the enemy by surprise. Getting rid of 6 people was also too powerful.
It also lacks counterplay since it automatically locks on and all he does is press Q and left click (this is pretty much what people think Mercy 1.0 was lmfao. There is more to both of their original ults. It required good game sense, game knowledge and smart decision making if you want to have a decent impact using it)

Mcree’s new ult is Bounty Hunter.
Mcree does not have to reload (like Mercy’s blaster. Also, because reworked Mercy is pretty much an empowered primary fire, referring to both her weapons)
Although, when he uses fan the hammer, he will wait 1.5s to use it again even after using combat roll
Mcree gets 3 charges of combat rolls with a 1.5s between each roll (Valkyrie buffs Mercy’s mobility. So here, Mcree’s mobility is also buffed)
The size of mcree’s bullet increases to 200% (Valkyrie can only really chain around 2 – 3 people in a middle of a teamfight. If your team is grouped so close that Mercy can Valkyrie heal/dmg boost all 6, it must mean that your team is doing something wrong, or allowing the enemy to get an easy burst onto your team or your team must be in an enemy Grav or you probably used Valkyrie when the entire enemy team just got team wiped and thus your group naturally forms on top of the objective)
He gets a 10hp/s regen (again this is a generous buff since regen is not built into Mcree’s abilities however Mercy already has this built in as a passive and Valkyrie is pretty much a buff to all her abilities except rez. This buff is to satisfy all the other people who say, “its balanced, Mercy gets a regen during Valk”)
It lasts 10s (making it 15s like Mercy Valk would be way too op and bringing it down to 10s for this new mcree, makes it closer to the actual impact Valk has in the game and besides Mcree already got a regen he did not previously have)
(pretty much Valkyrie is just an empowered version of Mercy with small impact and I made Mcree’s Bounty Hunter the exact same)

Dev comments: This will bring a more balanced Mcree as we believed ‘hide and High Noon’ was too powerful and rewards Mcree for hiding from his enemy and not actively participating in teamfights. Also, it had the ability to kill 6 people so we are toning that down.
Now Mcree will be actively participating in teamfights, instead of hiding from enemies and waiting to get that 6 man High noon.
It is now also not frustrating to play against anymore and provides counterplay as it is not too opressive anymore.

What Mcree players and players who see the unjustice done to Mcree will say:
“Mcree is just not fun anymore”
“Mcree wasn’t hiding from teamfights, he was TAKING COVER for a bit to stop himself from DYING. How different was this to a Reaper flanking and taking cover to get a good death blossom or Soldier flanking and taking cover to get around shields and take low health supports and dps by surprise?! ”
“There is a double standard against Mcree.”
“Jeff just hates Mcree.”
“Mcree is just not impactful anymore. He is just version of himself that can’t be killed.”
“STUPID MCREE MAINS. All they want is for Mcree to be OP and have an easy kill the enemy team by pressing Q and left click ”
“Just face it. Hide and High Noon was unhealthy for the game. Not being in teamfights to hide to get that sweet 6k kill is not healthy.”
“But how many times did Mcree actually get a 6k? Most mcree players only aimed to get around 2 people, sometimes 3 or that oppressive Pharmercy when using High Noon? Players who hid to get that 6k are only a small portion of Mcree players and doing that alone will not win you the game compared to getting key picks using High Noon.”
“Mcree 2.0 is better because he can no longer undo the supports’ hard work of staying safe behind their tanks and carries, away from the frontline. All Mcree 1.0 does is undo the hard work of supports staying safe behind their team by just pressing Q and left click”
“High Noon had no counterplay. It has a lock on which cast time was only around 1.5s”
“High Noon was frustrating to play against”
“Mcree is not fun anymore. The only reason he has a high pickrate is because he has High Noon every 30s on a COOLDOWN. He is just a ‘pick bot…’ “

Mcree 2.0 would be in the PTR for like 1 month and amidst warnings from many players that it will be fail they will all be ignored.
Mcree arrives on live and a good portion of players want a revert
They make a lot of posts suggesting reverts and possible ideas to counteract the reasons he was reworked but then get ignored and called crazy Mcree mains
And thus Mcree would be highly picked even in OWL due to his new E since it can lock on and instantly take someone out of the fight every 30s. Even more effective in OWL since there is so much more coordination and teamwork there. A literal ult on his E. His pickrate thus will also skyrocket and people will call him meta. But he will not be fun lol. He will just be a ‘pick bot.’ High reward for low effort lol, in addition to his E being clunky to use
The iconic “It’s High Noon” will be gone from the game, similar to the iconic “Heroes Never Die.” Nothing will be left except for the sweet memories of High Noon and how much more iconic, fun and balanced it is compared to Bounty Hunter

(But alas, since Mcree is a DPS and not a support, if this happened Overwatch devs would probs listen to the feedback and revert Mcree lol)

Note: None of this reflect my my real opinion on Mcree and his playstyle and how he is played. It is rather how I believe the community will see how Mcree is played if this scenario was to be true. This is supposed to mirror how the devs and the community see Mercy but this time if it were to happen to Mcree.

people are getting salty about how mcree has lock on but so does soldier and the thing is its op because its an ult, he cant just lock on to people whenever, these ppl are really dumb and i doubt blizzard will listen to them

Honestly, does anyone want their hero to be treated the way Mercy has been treated? Anyone?

The thought of an instant high noon every 30 seconds makes me wanna have a fit. I’d throw my keyboard out a window.

If mercy can revive a hero every 30s why can’t mcree just delete one /s

When you play Mercy and try to hide and Rez, you don’t heal your team and then your team dies.
When you try to use Mccree to “Hide Noon”, you are responsible for not dealing damage and not getting kills.

And here is a very exaggerated part about your post

I have 31 hours on Mccree and I have NEVER in my career of Overwatch have gotten a 6-man Deadeye. I rarely get a 4-man Deadeye and even a 3-man Deadeye is uncommon.

Mccree (spelled correctly) and Mercy are different heroes and they play differently. Mccree doesn’t have a Caduceus Staff and he can’t Rez heroes.
Mercy doesn’t have a revolver or a flashbang.

What’s your point?

Again, not my real opinion. It’s how I imagine the community would see High Noon if this scenario were to be real.
Also, this is how the devs viewed Mercy and justified her rework and it is also how many players see how Mercy 1.0’s Rez functioned.
I’m just imagining what people will say on the forums if this scenario actually became reality. The ones in " " are not actually my real opinion lol.
This would be would what people would say as justification as to why High Noon is balanced/unbalanced or right/wrong for the game if this scenario were real :stuck_out_tongue:

So you want to make him insanely overpowered?

If you want to make Cree players mad you need to nerf his guns damage by half.

my only issue is when the mccree has garbage internet and kills me half an hour after i turned a corner

You forgot to add “removing headshots from primary fire because it didn’t feel fun for the enemies to die to it”

Now thats a patchnotes I would expect from Blizzard.

That is how Mercy mains at the time felt, a five man rez WAS EXTREMELY RARE. That is the point.

If you read the entire post and knew how Mercy functioned perhaps you could’ve understood this topic a little better.

I made this exact comparison recently…

Basically got chewed out for even attempting to compare the two… Even though said comparison Makes perfect Sense.

I agree with you and OP!

A mandatory pick on both sides of every game for almost two full years despite multiple nerfs and a rebuild aimed at reducing the most abusive elements of his kit while making every effort to keep his core fantasy intact?

I’m quite sure McCree mains would jump at the chance to be treated like Mercy if that’s what you get out of the deal.

But, McCree isn’t OP.

McCree was given the mercy treatment before mercy was. Right click was game breaking then basically butchered, left click went from sniper to almost close-range, ult was given less forgiving ult charge reduction (not saying this wasn’t okay but), ult is kind of crap, flashbang has been proven to be ludicrously buggy, his left shift is literally A Roll For Instant Reload… He’s like the Raynor of overwatch, pre-rework

Sombra is designed to be sth in between! Her EMP is moved to a normal ability called hack, with cast time, single target and counterable.

Sorry, what?

On principle, healing and damage are two entirely different categories.

If his kit were changed the way you suggest, virtually all McCree players wouldn’t care and would actually enjoy the changes you’ve listed, specifically the 6 free Fan-The-Hammers… or, since you said McCree doesn’t ever need to reload, an infinite FtH.

Thought experiment on double standards is interesting, but it’s a poor one.

Do Hanzo next.
