My main is ashe, and the reason i started playing her was mostly because she’s just so awesome! I literally love everything about her, down to her character design, her abilities, b.o.b and also her lore!
I used to main widow and didn’t really like any of the other dps characters, so when ashe was released i felt like it was meant to be
I was already really good with her the minute she went live on the ptr and i could already easily hit her dynamite, which alot of ppl apparently had a very hard time to hit.
It’s just so fun exploading her dynamite in ppls faces and watching them burn, or even die when you expload it and they already had low health
She’s just way more fun that any other dps that exists right now and i don’t feel like playing other dps most of the time.
When i started playing this game, i learned that there were heroes called “Tanks” and you needed them to win games. So i picked one at random and ended up with a tank that just went live. That’s it.
I’m primarily an FPS guy and before overwatch, the only Tank i’m aware of was the vehicle kind.
My current main is Sombra, after forced 2-2-2 went live, i stopped tanking and went tankbuster full time. Which was mostly Sombra. My playstyle before Overwatch was flanking anyway so she became my primary. I didn’t mind taking the long way around a map if it meant i get an extra second to aim at the back of someone’s head. Because of the lack of cover and alternate routes, Sombra’s the only real flanker in the game.
Her midfight also makes her interesting to play even tho she loses most of them.
In the three years I didn’t play Overwatch, my desire to play Tracer anymore completely died. I was bored of the character, so I switched to Ashe. Who I always WANTED to play back in the day but didn’t because Widow was far, far more useful at the time, then I quit. Now that I’m back it’s Ashe all day.
She’s just fun. Shes got the satisfying crits, great sound design on her weapon, has a lovely design, and despite how clunky she can feel at times she just suits me. Her kit is also pretty unique for a DPS character.
Original Dva (really right after DM was changed from the one time use long cooldown to on and off) was a lot of fun as you were so tanky and could fly into someone’s face and just sort of out last them. Felt very powerful at the time and was fun.
Now it’s all about voiceline spam and tilting people. That’s the realest Dva tech.
Originally I picked D.Va because it was a gamer in a mech. I also liked her mobility. But at the time I started playing her, she was actually really really bad. But after a few, pretty big changes early on, she became really good and a lot more fun. She’s still my favorite hero and I’ve only liked playing her more over time.
I main D.va, I picked her for two reasons 1) she has high mobility and pretty good damage output, this suites my play style as I am rather aggressive and like to constantly change my position to come at the enemy for various angles to keep them guessing. Also the high mobility really helps with 2) She is a tank, her role is to peel and protect people which her high mobility makes her good at. I have always liked protecting people
Hahahahahaha I stopped using voice chat because of the people screaming at me because she was a “troll” pick. I don’t think she was bad, it was more like a lot of people did not know how to use her because the game was new and her play stlye was a bit unique … and she could kill herself with her ult … yah definitely glad that changed
Genji, what made me pick him was how unique his gameplay is for an FPS. As a player who absolutely loves hack and slash games it was love at first sight when i played him.
I first played doom because at the time I was a zen main and After dying to a doom repeatedly (I had not yet learned how to play against him)I proclaimed to my friends something along the lines of ‘that hero is so braindead easy’. My friend, being a doom main, told me to play doom if it was so easy. I then proceeded to get beamed by a soldier for ten minutes, but found it kinda fun so kept playing. Then I guess I just didn’t stop playing, and the rework wasn’t nearly as bad for me as others found it.
Reinhardt since at the time I began playing overwatch, I was big into the Gravity Hammer from halo. At that point my only fps experiences were whenever I was at a friend’s house, so having my own console to play games like Overwatch on meant I spent a LOT of time on it.
Couldn’t aim, liked the hammers, big fun guy in a suit of armor… yeah it just lined up perfectly.
5-ish years later and I always answer the call
Ought to add, I even got a hoodie with “CATCH PHRASE” plastered on the back of it
Yeah same with me honestly! I became a widow one trick because i enjoyed the challange because she was a difficuly hero, but after many complaints and toxic teammates i kinda swayed towards support and became a mercy main instead.
But then when ashe came out and i started playing her, i just knew that she was the one for me, she’s not really a sniper but she kiiinda just is the western?? Texas?? ver of widowmaker lol so when she got added i knew she was gonna replace widow.
I as well really enjoy hearing the sound of her weapon haha, it’s very satisfying to hear it also when you hit headshots just like you i also feel like she suits me the most out of all dps characters.
I also used to play soldier alot in ow1, but once that recoil was added i kinda stopped enjoying him because it got harder to aim, so now it’s just ashe play for me all day every day
Mei:
Her personality
She’s always positive and in a team multiplayer game that invites toxicity, it helps to remind me that there is more to life than to show negativity and hate.
I like controlling the environment to benefit my team. I’m not the best at hitscan so I put all my energy into teamwork to compensate for what I lack.
Tank:
I don’t know anymore. It was Ball->Sigma->Hog->Quit tank role in OW2 due to queue times, etc.
I played every Tank to fit the situation. The whole role was about teamwork which I gravitated towards. Nowadays, tanks are more DPS-like which is great but it lost it’s charm for me.
Support:
Mercy because I was able chill in OW1.
Now it’s Kiriko because it’s easier to get headshots using her and I just love Japanese fox outfit styles.
I have heroes I’m better at than others, sure. And maybe some go-to picks.
But I pick my hero on two factors.
What map loads.
Whether we’re on Attack or Defence.
My pick is always the most suitable for that situation.
I hate one tricks. They decided they’d be totally inflexible and therefore rubbish in a majority of situations. Good with their one pick in some niche situations. Why would you handicap yourself on purpose? Makes no sense to me.
It’s like being a duelist and not knowing how to handle the majority of the blades on the table.
I may repick later once I know the enemy composition or if the other players on my team means we lack something.
They said main not who you one trick. You’r main is who you prefer to play . I main Dva, but I still play a wide array of heroes. And yes, I have more hours on Dva then any other character because I have played her more because she fits into a lot of situations, I swap to rein or orisa when needed. I also have characters in other roles I can play.
