What "It's just QP" really means

“You’re taking the mode too seriously with your toxicity. Stop trying to micromanage your teammates who are most likely not going to listen to you.”

As long as people aren’t just emoting or jumping off cliffs and are actively trying to push the objective, then their hero choice DOES NOT MATTER. If you want to play a mode where winning matters, go play the competitive mode. And stop making QP a tryhard sweat fest.

exactly this. i exclusively play QP and get told to switch nearly every game, and sometimes before the game even starts. its so annoying

Did they… Just refuse to read your name?

You still need to at least try to win, which sometimes means getting off Symmetra when the opposing dps are Widow and Pharah. “It’s just qp” isn’t a valid excuse for ruining the game for others.

you dont need to try to win. if you want to try to win, play comp. you’re taking it too seriously. what if someone just wants to unwind from a long work day and wants to play their favorite hero ( sym in your example ) i dont see anything wrong with that

i think they’re fully aware of my name and want me to swap anyway lol. a lot of the time i play like a dps doom ( because im having difficulty adapting to tank playstyle ) and just dive backlines and do funny rollouts. some people cant stand that

You can’t always get your way, so if you don’t like how this game works you should find another game that fits your personal narrative better.

i could say the same thing to you. you cant dictate how other people play the game in a casual gamemode. if you dont like how that works, you should find another gamemode that fits your personal narrative better

It reminds me of the TTRPG phrase “It’s what my character would do”. It’s often used as a thinly veiled excuse for doing some pretty vile roleplay. Other times its used to avoid metagaming. In the same way “It’s just QP” can be used and misused by people who have different intentions for it.

Ah yes, the classic “chaotic stupid” alignment.

Moreover, in a game that does not encourage your growth in skill and winrate tends to 50%, there is no point in playing to win. I only play for k/d rate and provoking players to be toxic.

Your “no u” rebuttal is made moot by the fact that the devs went on record to say that quick play isn’t casual.

could you provide proof of that? i did a quick search and found nothing

It was way harder than it should have been to find this.

“When I use the term competitive, I don’t just mean playing Ranked, even Quick Play is demanding and sweaty.”

It means i pick sombra and spawn camp you , but if you ask peel your teammates say it’s just QP so no peels and licensed to be uncoordinated unofficially.

you can always pick as bad of hero picks as your teammates, its not forbidden to soft throw when people rather lose and play respawn simulator.

I for one won’t play certain tanks, my team can beg me on their feed but I won’t sacrifice my enjoyment and play a tankbot because my mates can’t survive on their own. if they can’t survive it wont matter what I play.

okay, fair enough. i do have another point. who decides to what standards qp’ers are hold accountable to, when it comes to quality of gameplay? qp doesnt take rank into account, and players of different ranks have different ideas of whats “good enough” gameplay and whats not

last week i played a game where i went 18k 3d, and had more damage than both dps combined. yet i still got dogged on because our mercy said i wasnt killing their genji enough, he was flanking all the time while i flanked their backline. is this considered “not trying to win” because i didnt protect my supports properly?

what if the sym you used in your example, is actually playing very well even against counters, but sometimes gets diffed anyway. is this considered “not trying to win” because she could have picked a different hero to get more value.

what if a bronze player tries qp and you get queued into them. are you still going to hold them to your standard of “youre not trying to win, youre ruining the game” because they simply dont know how to get optimal value as much as you do?

where is the line here? of course actual throwing shouldnt be allowed anywhere, but who sets the standard?

Qp has mmr. The only differences between it and ranked are the rank tiers and letting each team have a crack at defending and attacking (this second one is something me and my friends think they should add to qp).

qp indeed has mmr, but the system still sucks. its very common for players of very different skill levels to queue into each other. just yesterday i queued against a GM doom player, while im plat 5 and peaked 3345 in ow1 ( equivelent of dia 2 ) the matchmaking in this game is bad and you know it. my other points in my comment still stand. whats the standard?

Qp and ranked have separate mmr, so it makes sense that you sometimes get players way outside your skill range because they play each mode a different amount.
