i dont even play these heroes and im astounded that so many people are struggling against them
not once have i ever had difficulty fighting snipers in this game, and that goes for all 3 roles
am i just crazy, or is everyone playing a different game than me?
if im playing tank, i play around corners and move up into the sniper and force them to retreat or secure an easy kill, or if im playing a dive tank i can use my mobility to jump on them directly
if im playing dps, i take angles that make it hard for the sniper to line up their shot, then i approach them at medium range and simply duel them, whoever is more skilled at the game will win the fight so i cant be upset if i die at that point (plus the occasional genji/sombra flank also deletes snipers from the game)
if im playing support, i keep track of where the sniper is positioned and i respect the space they are zoning, and if im playing a damage oriented support such as zen, lucio, bap, kiriko, or even moira i can duel them at close/medium range and usually get the kill easily
there are ways to play around every hero in the game, sniper or not, and i dont want blizzard to destroy widowmaker and hanzo in the same way they decimated roadhog, its just not fair to the people who love these heroes and play them to have fun
No idea. But I also think this ana hate is unreasonable too. Sure, I do think some of her abilities are still a bit oppressive to tanks. But half of the complaints are coming from DPS players getting slept and/or naded and killed. That’s just a skill issue, not ana being broken issue.
Forum has a lot of takes I don’t agree with and feel like is overblown. But what can I do.
You people need to realise its not dealing with them thats the problem, its the method to deal with them is boring i.e. stare at walls and play in the 10% of the map thats not their sightline. Are yall being purposfully ignorant?
In my opinion, widow really only becomes an issue if people are smurfing on her. If you’re in a high enough rank where widow player can have god-tier aim, most likely your teammates (especially your tank) should know how to counter her.
Widow isn’t all the different from pharmacy. If your team addresses them properly, they won’t be as dominating in the game.
If your team is ignoring the widow (just like the pharah)…then that’s less of a widow problem and more of a teammates problem.
If your team IS addressing the widow but is still losing the game, then that’s most likely a team-diff.
Is it obnoxious that a single widow forces the entire team to swap just to deal with her? Sure. But pharah has the same effect, same as wrecking ball, and roadhog.
the devs are probably in a dilemma on what to do with her. yes she probably is oppressive in the highest ranks (top 500) but they know if they nerf her it will be really bad for lower ranks. so probably a rework or some brainstorming. maybe they dont want to make her ashe 2.0 since i think thats about the only way you can go about it to smooth her across ranks
or they could give her the hog treatment which may happen. i would hate that but i am sure all the widow haters will rejoice
Widow takes some semblance of skill. While one shotting at any point in time absolutely sucks, you at least gotta set it up and be at range. Even then though, there is something to be said about basically shooting targets that can’t shoot back.
Hanzo on the other hand takes zero skill. You just spam in the general direction of the enemy and get a lucky kill. He’s the EZ Fisher Price version of Widow in terms of skill. Widow gets a 15 second cooldown get away move. Hanzo gets a 4 second consistent get away move. Widow takes like 1.5 seconds to get full damage. Hanzo is like 1 if not less. Widow’s ult requires her to be alive, Hanzo gets her ult every 10 seconds or whatever sonics cooldown is.
Some of you people have never played a single game with/against a decent widow and it shows.
People who say Widow and Hanzo are fine either:
Are Widow/Hanzo players relying on the unfair power advantage as a crutch.
Not good at the game at all.
Blatantly lying to defend the characters.
Sometimes it’s all 3.
Some of you have never witnessed/experienced the flying spider snipes, the hidden wall-top arrow technique. You’ve never had the realization that the best sniper was on the enemy team, realized how much of an uphill battle the rest of the game would be.
“Ball counters Widow”
Widow also works pretty well with ball. Have you ever experienced the pain of playing against Widow and Ball? Even if you follow the advice of “Just sit behind a wall the entire game”, nope, the G-force rat is here to make sure you and/or your team are constantly displaced the entire game. Actually, every character people say counters Widow, she works well with and since she has the any-range hitscan ohk, her dying after instantly killing multiple enemies and/or a support is a good trade for her team and worth playing into her “counters”.
I’m going to answer this the most brief way possible.
They nerfed 2-shot combos, and let 1-shot in. In most cases, the 2-shot combos were actually much more skilled than the other 1-shots. Take it like this, but a Hanzo holding a Valorant angle at head level is honestly the most infuriating thing ever. Widow can at times, change the entire course of the game, specifically if they sit across the map and not a single person on your team can or could answer to the duel. I’m not kidding, but the MMR is so bad rn, we have people in the absolute wrong ranks on all roles. I never had issues with widow and I don’t mind taking the mirror, but this game gets REALLY boring with 1-shots. Sometimes, I wish I was the 5 players because I know the solution, but 1 person doesn’t apply the very fundemental basics of the game and we get rolled after that.
Anytime Widow/hanzo are meta, I sleep and switch games, it’s one of the most boring thing on DPS.
Pray tell how you manage in high elo on Junkertown and cross the cavernous gap to dive the sniper? How do you use cover on the literal flat plains?
Ah yes I can’t wait to take an angle on Junkertown, definitely like, so many of those.
Headshot, or peel arrives too quickly for that one to work consistently.
So you just stay in spawn on Junkertown right? Because they zone essentially all of first point.
And the counterplay for Widow is miserable in high elo on Junkertown, Havana, or Circuit Royale. You’re either a cracked ball player (which is exceedingly rare), or you’ve got a cracked widow of your own, which just means its’ the enemies problem.
Cool, I’d also like to have fun. We should not value Widow over the rest of the game. When she’s in any kind of a strong position, the game suffers immensely.
Until you get into high enough ranks, and then all of the counters fall apart because there’s this funny thing called Peel.
The literal only options are mirror, which is just the problem squared, or unbelievably cracked ball.
What do you mean gotta set it up? Have you seen Junkertown?
Why would he have to reload when he has to knock each arrow indiviually and charge them for ~1 second before he reaches max damage? That’s literaly reloading between every arrrow, dumbest sh** ive heard about Hanzo in a min.
It’s not even just boring, in a lot of cases it’s an active losing strategy. On a lot of maps, there is not a useful way to hide in cover and play the game. Which is why Widow becomes a huge problem at high ranks; the only reason you’re able to play the game in a lobby with Widow is because the Widow misses her shots, and in high ranks Widows don’t miss their shots.
I do think that Hanzo is fine though, and would like to see Widow become more Hanzo-esque w/ her oneshot being made less consistent as a tradeoff for giving her more team utility.
