I’m trying to get back into Overwatch, haven’t played much since season 3 or so. I’ve played 7 competitive matches so far, 5 of which have had at least one player leave and 2 of which have straight up ended early because the entire enemy team left. Is this common now???

That’s what a dying game looks like, people just stop caring about bans, penalties and playing at all.

returning players get matched with returning players sometimes or maybe it’s just how placement games are, wether that be returning players are tried to be matched with returning players ONLY in placements or that placements are just garbage when you’ve been gone for a few rank resets
I think that’s just what low ranks look like. At least in plat in above it’s quite rare for this to happen in my experience.
Ive seen complaints about leavers in gold and below for years so I don’t think it really has anything to do with that. Even in ow1 maintenance mode it wasn’t really an issue.

Why are you playing comp when there’s a bunch of new heroes and you have no idea what they do?
Thats just the nature of free to play in general. If you’ve been away that long, you’ve probably decayed in ranking. The first step is the biggest one defining if people do or don’t belong in competitive. I started season 0 in Rivals 0-5 in bronze 3 due to leavers losing the first fight.
Just have to play for a little bit, even just gaining a little from the bottom and it’ll start to clear up pretty quick.
The drive event is around the corner. No one is playing ranked.
QP is where the temp stuff is.

Yeah, the lower ranks have always been awful. It gets better in gold+

Normally it’s when one of your team is cheating. If it’s one of the opposition, they usually call it out.
Since an overall majority of games, even in QP, have a couple of cheats in now… it’s very common to see.
Had a Mercy in one game I repped, turns out there was someone on our team cheating they saw so they stopped boosting them and stopped healing. Even with that we still nearly won. 5v6 - and literally no heals. I felt bad for repping them after I saw the replay. But hey, they never told me until the end.
Just the sad state of the game.
