What is up with matchmaking

Maybe the console pool has a really low population right now and matchmaker is doing the best it can, but the dps diff in my games is absolutely insane. I’ll give examples without giving damage number just K/D best and worst for my last few games

  1. best 41/4 worst 7/15
    2)best 31/6 worst 7/10
    3)best 23/2 worst 1/6
    4)best 51/9 worst 21/15
    5)best 21/7 worst 13/8
    6)best 25/6 worst 16/12
    7)best 24/3 worst 7/11

Now 100% of the time the team with the best DPS won and 100% of the time the team with the worst DPS lost. Do you think the tank and support players felt impactful? How does this happen? WTF is matchmaker doing? Because it sure IS NOT making matches with an equal chance of winning. Most are unwinnable or unlosable depending what DPS you get.

yea sometimes it feels bad but i REALLY think marvel rivals is worse. something about that game … probably infested with smurfs and premades from discord that is a bad feeling. way worse than overwatch

also i hate how in their version of quickplay if you lose 2 times it matches you up against bot players. most of the time i KNOW RIGHT AWAY but sometimes you are there popping off feeling good about yourself then you realize … oh yea they are bots :laughing: then you feel real bad again and betrayed. annoyed at the game in general

But we are talking about OW not MR. OW is there almost 10 years! They gather about us every possible informations so why they simple dont use them? Its not just about wining games, its much more complex: hits/miss, deaths, tracking, cd ussage etc etc etc. They have everything but using nothing… only EOMM implemented and ~50/50 win/loss

yea true, still i think a hero shooter which has tons of heroes and counter options is hard to match teams with. also the team aspect is pretty big. tons of hidden variables that you can never have perfect games constantly

also quickplay seems to grab from a large skill pool to increase queue times. i kinda like that since quick games but yea once in a while you can get huge team disparities

rivals is a bad game, ppl just wanted something that wasn’t ow2, 3rd person is wonky af, terrible hero balance, trash maps, hit reg is all over the place,hitboxes are the size of rein. i hate watching ppl stream Rivals, just a mess going on all over the place. outside of the IP and the artstyle that game is cheeks.

It’s annoying, but I put up with it because their QP had better match quality than OW’s. I hopped on after the Ultron patch after a break and… well… I’m not sure that’s the case any more.

I’ll still probably hop on to do the dailies in order to get that green coin, but beyond that, I think I prefer Max 2 Tanks over in OW at the moment. I wish the QP version was as good as the Comp one, though. I get similar queue times for Max 2 Tank Comp and QP, so the match quality disparity between the two modes feels kinda weird.

A) It’s really hard to accurately gauge people’s skill

B) don’t make the mistake of assuming that because 1 person really outperforms another, they must be a higher rank and that one of the 2 didnt belong there. A lot of stuff during a match influences a person’s performance (hero selection/familiarity, grouping dynamics, comms, role comps, crossplay, etc etc etc)

What mode are you usually playing? I’ve been finding 5v5 a lot more prone to stomps than 6v6 oq but it might just be my luck.

This has no relevance to match making.

Tank and support players are the ones that allowed the DPS to get those numbers. Without space from the tank and support from supports. DPS do nothing

So what you’ve got here is games where one team gets space and takes advantage of it. And another that doesn’t.

Not a match making issue. Just a player performance one.

People always correlate performance with matchmaking for some reason

The matchmaker wasn’t the one that decided that one guy was going to play a flyer with a pocket support while the other other team was playing sym/junkrat….

In my games, when I play support, dps role rarely make any difference, unlike myself or my tank or another support in our team. Tank and support diff is the real issue, not the furniture dps role. Dps role needs resources, enabling, space. They are called damage role, but they have either the same damage as a tank/support or even less, because you can’t do consistent damage w/o a sustain.

If my teammate dps do good in a match, I can tell those are either boosters/smurfs or my tank is just better and they just participate in eliminations because untouched/provided with everything they need. But when they do bad it usually starts from the tank. In rare occasions these players are bad, but even then I can win, but not if the tank,myself or other support is underperforming. Therefore, YES, SUPPORT AND TANK is the most impactful.

Dps role needs actual damage numbers in order to carry the game, but they don’t have neither the damage nor utility. I’d increase damage by 20-25%, then they will have no excuse. This game is just broken, it designed in a way that the role that suppose to “harm” is harmless. This is blizzard phylosophy, a win-win mantra, everybody is happy, nobody hurts. You shoot as dps, it is fun for you, but that is enough, killing stuff is too much fun, which you will take away from poor tanks and supports, who buy more skins. We can’t let that happen (c) Blizzard.

Blizzard called the role damage, seems like because of they can do damage, and that’s it. But if I play support I can do way more damage, than the actual role, because I can enable myself as I have all the best utility in the game in the support roster. The only reason I might have less damage than my dps is because I have less time for that, I have to play the role in the end.

was just on a 8 game winstreak and thought i would have my first loss. midtown game and it was going REAL bad and in the last 10 seconds we get first point. same as second point right on the last second… then im like hey maybe we got a chance but with all that time we have shaved on the clock we only had a minute… wiped… .but in the last seconds AGAIN we pulled it off…

i guess you just never give up and never surender. i knew it was bad since our sombra was like 0-8 then 3-12 later but finished 12-19 at the end… im like how did we win that with that sombra lol…

I do not want to sound rude, but I played this Marvel game for 10 seconds and uninstalled immediately

that game made me really think they stacked the odds against me. 8 game winstreak and when i went back to watch that replay the sombra was bottish/throwing/didnt care or young. i mean nothing against the player. its just a game so i mean it doesnt really matter

still getting that player after a 8 game winstreak i should have lost. i now have 9 wins in a row. im too afraid to play anymore lol
