What is with the Zarya skins? One of the original characters, so plenty of time to flesh her out. And I feel like not only are her skins not particularly good, but they don’t even seem cohesive. Like she has a couple weightlifting related skins, a couple goth skins, and a couple medieval related skins… and it’s like, I still don’t know what she’s about other than weightlifting, being a worrior, and being a woman. Like that you need to define her as a warrior woman when none of the other characters that are both clearly warriors and also women need to be defined as such, but that is the only way you’re willing to define the Zarya hero.

I think she might just be hard to make skins for. I barely ever see the community even have suggestions for her.

I think a few heroes suffer from this ugly/boring skin problem where they really only have one or two standout skins and then the rest are just kinda meh. Winston and Moira are two that come to mind where I can really only think of 2 skins they have that are top tier.

Honestly, the base skin nailed it pretty much so yeah. I like her Siberian skin though.

As you can tell, Zarya is one of my favorite characters in the game despite getting progressively worse over time and not playing her as much as I used to. It was rough in the beginning with her skins yeah, but they’ve been much improved since.
Her 80s skin is my favorite skin in the game because of how much I love the 80s and how much they nailed the skin. Her most-recent Epic challenge skin is also super-good, it almost looks like a Legendary to me.

Skins in general seem mediocre at this point. I hope in OW2 we get new themes for events and more permanent loot content, rather than more and more sports, spooky, winter, oriental, and historical themed skins. It’s been 5 years since we had a new event theme and 4 since we got a substantial influx of permanent loot content.
As for Zarya, I’d like to see her in some EOD armour. There is such a skin for the character Portnova in Black Ops Cold War, I’d like something similar to that for Zarya.

Her best ones just so happened to be event ones.
The weird thing is, Zarya has great skins in Heroes of the Storm, not even kidding. They’re really far better than OW’s ones…

I like her long hair in ow2… if that’s going to be her hair. I don’t know why they don’t make a skin to show off her more feminine side.

Z-girl is my favourite tank and I loved this skin too. Last year’s Archives skin was really nicely done also, I especially love the gun on that one. My favourite of hers is actually Alien, I just love the aesthetic of it, the shape, the colours. I just hope Blizzard gives us cross-progression so I can have it again on PC. It was the only skin besides Pink Mercy I paid real money for.
I mostly swap zarya’s skin so that her partical cannon doesn’t look so ugly in front of me. It’s a nit picky thing but I just don’t like the way her gun looks with her regular skin.

Industrial has the best particle canon skin imo. The spikes are cool.

Personally I love those skins, especially Industrial. But because I am a huge Red Sonja fan, I got to give it to Barbarian.

I think she’s mediocre all over… her personality, her kit, her gun, her original visual design, her skins, etc. I don’t know why exactly I find it to be so, but I think overall Zarya is an unremakable character.
Alien is indeed another favorite of mine, I put it on every now and then too.
And they did confirm cross-progression by the way, around the time they did for cross-play. They did also explain that it would come later.

I guess Zarya is just hard to design. I mean-- there’s not much you can do, and her weapon is so interestingly shaped.
