Been playing a lot of support lately, and I do not understand what a good play style or hero choice is good against hammond. I did end up going Brig one of the time, but it feels like while you can shield bash, it doesn’t directly counter the insane cc and burst damage of pile driver. Ana could sleep, but mostly she just gets targeted.
What am I missing? I am asking for suggestions on how to tackle this.
Ana sleep is annoying
Lucio is hella annoying with his constant boos throwing me off and cutting off my escape.
Mercy is good for avoiding him, Moria for surviving his DPS
Bap is good for shutting down his ult(Immort field)
Am I forgetting a healer? I feel like I’m forgetting someone?
Edit: Oh yeah, brigs a pain in the booty with her constantly bopping and stunning

I like Brig or Lucio to deal with the ball. They’re not going to kill him on their own, but well timed boops can really screw up their pathing. Brig’s bash will often get him killed, especially if there’s a second stun on your team to give you time to burn through his 10,000 hp before he balls up and rolls away.
All the supports have tools. If Hammond targets Mercy she can fly to an ally. Zen’s discord puts Hammond on suicide watch.
Immortality Field shuts his game plan down, you got speedboost for Lucio, Ana can sleep him throw down the made if her team got CC bounced.
Moira’s the only support lacking but that’s because Hammond is one of her counters
I think there are ways of playing most supports against him, you just have to work out your own way/ how to use each supports kit in that scenario.
Honestly Brig should be pretty decent against hammond, you just have to put the time in to get used to consistently blocking the slam by holding your shield to the ground, landing the whip shots to stop his momentum and shield bashing optimally. Also whipping his mines starts inspire which is good for you and you’re hard for him to pick off quickly.
Ana sleeps can be good but if you don’t land them consistently he can farm you.
moira you can use fade to avoid pile drive damage and coalescence can kill the mines quickly.
Zen is simultaneously great and awful against hammond depending on your teams skill and comp. Zen is the easiest kill for hammond, but discord can allow your team to kill him very quickly where usually he will get away. If your other support heals you threw hammond attacking you and your team focuses him or has CC then discord can get him killed, but if you aren’t helped by your team you’ll die to him a lot.
Lucio self heal and mobility should sustain yourself through hammond.
I like Baptiste to help punch through his health pool. Brig is definitively the counter, though.

Hamtaro is free real estate for brig to farm inspire on
Zen is annoying when he pops ult and clears the minefield
Lucio Boop will stop his nonsense and throw off his aim.
Ana dart will shut him down.
Brigitte is the best as she has the stun, the armor and the Boop to deal with him.
Other healers only heal or don’t really stop his momentum.

Brig is the counter, for sure. Stun him out of swinging, it’s gonna be on cooldown for 5 seconds. Then just whack him away with whipshot or something.
Primary fire also helps clear his minefields easily.
The best thing supports can do to counter Hammond is to stick together and watch each others backs.
Brig, Lucio and Moira are all effective against Hammond, they can either disrupt his movement or avoid his attacks entirely. Mercy can avoid him but like with Doomfist, a decent Hamster will just know where you’re going to go and drop there to intercept you. He can’t predict where Moira will go.
Hamtaro’s large size, hitbox shape and movement patterns make him super easy to sleep dart with a little practice. Honestly she’s the support I fear the most, and when combo’d with any other strong CC or anti-tank hero (Hog, Mei, Sombra or Reaper, Bastion, Torb) it’s enough to force a swap.
I dunno if this will remain true next patch, but Baptiste does enough damage and is hard enough to kill that he can massively reduce your impact.
It’s Brigitte you’re just playing her wrong.
Use whip shot mid air to mess up piledrivers. And stun him whenever he’s trying to grapple because he loses all his momentum. Plus sneak in flail hits whenever possible. In games I play against Hammond, I usually have +5-10% more Inspire uptime he’s a nice Inspire farm

Yep, I don’t often support but damn I love to Brig into Hammond.
It is a shame they switch off so quickly.
In my experience, most Hammonds are one tricks or swap off so late they’ve already soft thrown the game lol
Brigitte is good if you play deffensivly to stop him
With Ana wait for him to pile drive and then use the sleep dart
Lucio can wall ride and boop him away to stop momentum. also good speed.
Moira can fade out of his pile drive, also consistent damage to him.
Dont need one, the dps should counter. Thats the problem with this game, everyone thinks that every hero should be solo play. If your dps isnt doing their job countering, then its a Blizzard issue not a support issue. Blizzard needs to enforce teamwork in the team game they designed, or just make it all solo play
This only apply to the higher ranks…
you cant expect gold or below plarys to be able to do so…
also it makes sense to me each role will have an answer to each hero.
protection,damage or utility…
It actually makes metas move faster since you can just pick a counter from each role.
That’s why dive for example was so strong. the whole comp countered the support class and made it too easy to win game since it’s already 6V4…
Ana sleep dart. If you can aim.
As brig, flail him back when he’s slamming. Like, when he’s in the air. He’ll slam in an area he doesn’t want to be
Sleep him/stun him
Basically it, ball is more of a tank/DPS issue to deal with. Similar to how tanks don’t really kill reaper, supports don’t kill ball. Get help from your team, and you hopefully will do fine.
