Every hero has a purpose. Every hero brings something healthy to the game. This even applies to Brigitte, who’s purpose is to give support players an opportunity to protect themselves against flankers/divers.
But what about Doomfist? What does he bring to the table? How has the game benefitted from his addition? Genuine question.

he is the punching bag who gets countered by everyone which is ironic since he is meant to be doing the punching
seriously though he used to bring a pretty unique and interesting playstyle, he is still a very unique character for overwatch

Yeah he’s a breath of fresh air and has very unique mechanics and a high skill floor that isn’t really found anywhere else in the FPS world.

Doomfist is what brought me and some friends back to the game. Sure, he was annoying to play against at first, but every new hero is. The difference with Doomfist is his play style is completely different to every other hero. He forces people to play the game differently or die(in game). I find that to be a positive contribution, because I find that people just did the same thing over and over every game, and to an extent still do, until his addition. Every hero could be dealt with in a very similar fashion and he changed that. Many reasons why people dislike Doomfist is because they’re still stuck in the past with how he used to be and not what he is now. People complain about Doomfist’s CC when Heroes like Rein technically have more nowadays, and then they make excuses rhat also apply to Doomfist, justnot in their minds.
If people looked at the game not using their feelings and the past, I believe they’d see that Doomfist is actually a great addition to the game. But since people aren’t able to do that, they won’t, and we’ll continue to get “Delete Doomfist” threads until the end of time.
Hope that answers your question, OP!

His combat styles brings in a fresh air of uniqueness into Overwatch. Also like what airwalker said, we can finally not run the same old strats for the same results (at least initially until people realized he’s bad so they went back to dive)

To dive in on the supports.
That doesn’t really aide the health of the game, that just gives the player a form of entertainment.
How does Doomfist make the game healthier?
You said “benefited”. I was saying how he brought players that liked those things into the game and made characters a little more diverse and less point and click. A healthy game is a fun game
A fighting game character in an FPS Hero Shooter.
Doomfist is a mobile burst-damage hero, like Genji and Echo. Unlike Genji who does it in an opportunistic way, or Echo who attempts it in a stealth-bomber sort of way, Doomfist is more in-your-face and disruptive. He dives in with the Tanks and attempts to make kills or cause enough havoc to disrupt the enemy line and team.
The biggest problem with Doomfist, is that it carries tremendous risk to do this and most plays aren’t willing to do this anymore within the current meta compositions and strategies. Since much of Overwatch is about maintain control over the objective, sustain is more preferred and point-control is more reliable.
Moreover, Doomfist, like Genji and Echo, struggles with Tanks. Overall output is low, but extremely burst-oriented. Doomfist might be able to get 250 damage off a Rocket Punch wall slam, but most Tanks will shrug this off with ease and active Support like Mercy, Ana, Baptiste, or Moira will cover and mitigate any of the damage dealt by the time Doomfist’s Rocket Punch runs off cooldown.
This leaves Seismic Slam and Uppercut. While Uppercut’s damage is fairly, Seismic Slam has been a problematic ability since day one. It’s next to impossble to achieve max damage with the ability without exploiting the physics engine or the terrain of various maps leading to “roll-outs” or situations where Doomfist is flying through the air more frequently than Pharah, or Echo just create enough air time to max out Seismic Slam’s damage. Multiple proposals have been made in attempting to curb Seismic Slam’s maximum damage output and place the remainder elsewhere (like say, Upper or even in Handcannon). But the biggest problem has been Seismic Slam’s exploitative issues on terrain that has largely premised Doomfist into a pick that can be very dangerous when utilized and practically useless otherwise. Wait for Overwatch 2 to see if Blizzard manages to address some issues with the game’s engine.

Huh? What purpose does ashe have in a game where mccree and widow exist? What about hanzo? Is she healthy for the game despite stepping on the toes of pre-existing characters?
And how the hell are you defining healthy? Is stagnant comps for months and months at a time healthy because your main doesn’t have effective counters which allows you to be a one trick in perpetuity?
Tracer and genji every fing game until brig launched. Was that healthy? What about goats or dbl shield?
At least dooms kit is unique which allows unique options to become viable. If u want cs go play cs go

Come on let’s be honest whenever you die to him don’t you think “well that’s bs.” He doesn’t have to be good to be bs. He just had to be bs to be bs. Yes that makes sense somehow.
Only once, I was a lucio in comp and he meant to punch something in the distance but the hitbox hit me since I was right above him, on the kill cam I wasn’t even on his screen, yes getting hit by the punch can be frustrating, but tbh more times then not the punch makes you slide off a wall and the collision fails to work.
For me I don’t even have to play a counter, if I always think about the doom and ask my team where doom is to get them thinking you will be less suprised and your teammates are more likely to save stuns to punish him. Add to that his meteor strike is really easy to focus/kill (pinning him when he lands is staisfying) he really just seems like a scuffed hero
I don’t understand why anyone tries to make jokes.
