Honest question. I’m basically talking about Sym and Torb now. I admit that they are weak now and need buffs but they will remain situational heroes because that’s how they were designed. Why is this a problem for some people? Why do people want to make every hero viable in every situation? Hero picks should be based on several factors just like the map and the enemy comp. Y’know, we should play for victory and not for ego.

because I gotta play muh favorite hero! some like to attach to the lore of the character rather than what the character is made for (PvP!) and others just like to admit defeat and decide they aren’t good enough to play heroes with aim, and some just aren’t smart enough to realize situational heroes are situational

Maybe its because they see other characters that are viable in every situation and wonder why their choice of character got the short end of the stick.

If something only worked at 20% of time at its job. Why would you make it? It be like if a super hero could only work between 10-10:30am. This hero is invincible for 30 mins. But once the time limit is reached. They can be killed. VS another super hero that can work 24/7. Not invincible. But has powers at their disposable at any time.

This analogy would make sense if you got the choice of 27 different cars that you could switch between at any moment for one all-in price, where each had strengths and weaknesses. So basically, you would make that car because it solves a problem in one specific area, and then you switch when you need to solve a different problem. Amazing how strategy works like that
OP’s point is that he’s confused about why people somehow still get mad when these cars are being driven on that 20% of road types.
And honestly, these cars do run on more than 20% of road types.
It’s just that you have to put in extra effort to run them on these other roads.

The problem is that blizzard is not smart enough to know that some heroes kits , most people find boring (Sym, torb pharah etc.)
That is litteraly why.
Because those characters are barely good even in their “situation”

Sym and Torb are not just situational, they’re also really bad. Pharah is a good example of what a situational hero looks like when properly balanced.

They don’t excel in the situations where they are situational, or not enough to make them worthwhile.
You can go with the heroes that play near excellent everywhere, like tracer, and you will still be either favored or on equal grounds with the situational heroes.

How is it come for them to have good winrates then?
Pretty bad example. More like: “Why should a goalkeeper play as a midfielder?”
Because data only gets recorded if they’ve been on that hero for 10 minutes, and they either swap or get steamrolled before 10 min elapses, so it records a disproportionate amount of wins.
My issue with situational heroes is that it makes getting good with heroes like Mei and Pharah seem like a poor investment.
Both have a decent amount of mechanical depth and can do very unique things but why should you bother with them if you can play tracer on every map? This is compounded by the fact that skills learnt for these heroes don’t transfer as easily onto others.
It’s high effort low reward, which is sad because they are some of the more interesting heroes.
Picking them is called playing the game in hard mode. Lol
The problem is not only they r niche, they r not even strong in those situation since people can counter them easily
And the heroes themselves have penalties come from their own kit that limit their capacity
And why some heroes deserve to be must picks * cough * Dva * cough * while the majority aren’t worth to even be picked?
Let them all be situational or all worth of being picked.
When was Pharah a situational pick?

I don’t find Pharah boring. Actually i have a ton of fun as her.
