What is the point of regenerative shield health now?

Now that all health regenerates at roughly the same speed, what’s the point of shield health? Why didn’t they just give everyone who needs the heal passive shield health instead of making all health regenerate? Now shield health regenerates twice as fast, which seems kinda crazy.

You answered your own question.

They want health to regenerate outside of combat, and the purpose of shield health is to regenerate that portion even faster.

Shield health regenerates sooner and at a higher hps, as well as seperate from other health regen

Its really funny how this shield health buff ultimately didnt do much to help the heroes with shield health because most of them cant retreat on demand.

is that really necessary though? Did shield health really need a buff?

Lets be honest after years of nerfs there isn’t a lot of difference between armor, shield and regular health. Honestly shield HP just makes you weaker to things like EMP and little else.

The hero’s that could use it, high mobility hero’s like DVa don’t get it. It would be nice to avoid chip dmg on stuff like that but sadly no. Armor isn’t much better in it’s dmg reduction is garbage against higher hitting attacks and most hero’s have so little armor it basically blocks one shot before going away.

Literally everything you said was straight up incorrect, just saying. You should read more about the games data.

I think armor is pretty strong. Heroes that can peel like D.Va can already access their supports and health packs easier so why would they need it? Heroes that do have it make sense: Zen is in the backline, Symmetra can use her tp to reposition and play off angles, etc. Zarya doesn’t make a lot of sense but sometimes she plays back line to enable her dps.

@Itami idk who you’re talking to. Nobody said anything incorrect, though my wording in the OP was a bit inconsistent, sure.

Unless the wiki is outdated armor still reduced dmg by shots by 5 if it’s over 10 and by half if it’s under (rounded up I believe). This means in general it’s pretty useless on attacks that deal high hits.

Only real effect on small pellet like attacks form shotguns and the like. Even then when a hero has like 50 armor that’s maybe 5 shots before it’s useless (if it’s a 10 or less weapon) or one shot from anything else. I mean it’s better than nothing but it’s hardly the “Omg I can’t hurt them” mechanic many think.

I think it might be outdated. I seem to recall it reducing all damage by like 30/40%

Give Symm LifeSteal, but only the shieldhealth portion of the lifebar.

Its outdated, armor reduces incoming damage by a flat 30% now.

I’m confused. that’s how it works rn isn’t it? But just with enemy shield health/barriers

That hasn’t been a thing for a while now

actually this entire comment is outdated by like a few years

Yup, but now also have it apply to enemy players.
