Quality, customization, special effects, and rarity (each hero gets only one… for now) should be the point of them, but it’s pretty hit or miss. Orisa’s, for instance…
they tend to be more detailed and more work goes into them. they cant promise you will always like them better than cheaper skins, its a matter of opinion.
this mindset never fails to baffle me. I’ve never once used a skin because I thought it was “more exclusive”. Most skins aren’t even “exclusive” except Noire Widow + BlizzCon + the 300 dollar Dva one. Do you just use default on the other heroes, or meticulously curate a list of the the least used Battlepass skins?
Why would I wear Mythic Kiri or Reaper when their shop skins are 100% better?
If you like it more and it’s 10 dollars+grind instead of 20? (also what Reaper skin is better than Anubis? Nebula, Lu Bu and Cursed Captain are good but better? no)
I think your perspective was right, but you need to update it to reflect the new reality of the mythic shop. I think Reaper’s mythic is representative of what we’ll see moving forward quality-wise, which is a high level of quality.
Because they look cool and make battle passes more worth to buy? Think about it, to get a mythic skin without the battle pass it would cost roughly 80 dollars. This encourages people to buy the battle pass and play the game more.
The same reason you get any other skin. Because you like it, and you can get it.
Except they are closer to accidents because it’s “oh, I can do the BP and get one of these? Cool™ I guess.”
Wearing a cosmetic because you like it and not because it gives you prestige? The hell? Why would I wear something I like when I could just wear something to show off?
