You can still make Brig work, its just harder.
Now the Brigs youāve probably seen are bad players thinking Brig us a brawl type of support.
Yes and no. Brig is useful when partnered with other heros. By herself she crumbles easily.
So rush comp with a Brig us actually a legit strategy.
Brig has the same issues as Winston in where they shine with teamwork and coordination.
Without that they are pretty much passive til they can find a safe enough opening, which is a rather hard skill to build let alone utilize properly.
So Brig is more of a bodyguard type hero that mostly protects her tank or her partber support. Sometimes a dps, but letās be real her. Brig needs some added defense which tanks and other supports cam provide via utility.

If thereās no need to bodyguard the other support then only if someone really enjoys playing Brig, I guess. If they donāt, then they might as well hop on over to a different character.
I think the question āWhat is the point of Brig?ā is a bit odd when you go on to define the point of Brig, though. Is there any sort of need to make Brig fight equally well against every sort of enemy comp?

Her packs are premium if you are also playing dive. You throw one on a Tracer and they heal plenty from it across the map even after blink around and going around corners. And while your DPS/tank are diving you can protect your main support. So the dive thing works both ways
Current Brig is the definition of no fun and counterintuitive gameplay.
The developers did their best to make her difficult to play and to understand, because of the GOATS PTSD.

Playing as Ana, a good Brigg is the best. She doesnt work in all comps, but she is insane as partner with Reinhard. She isnt easy to play as other supps, bc needs to hit for her inspire (heal) and her shield is āfragileāā¦
She is like a little nice bodyward.
I love a Brigg in my team

Not really, no. But thatās also the answer to the question in the title: the point is to counter dive. Thatās literally why she exists.
Doesnāt mean sheās useless outside of that, but not as easy to get value out of. Also, mace to the face.
Being a free kill when i play rein or junk.
Feels good to kill a support that used to bully rein back then XD

she is not the OP brawl hero that can 1v1 everyone like she was in the past
she is at her best when she is guarding allies, fending off attackers who approach them (do not approach them yourself!!!), and spamming whipshot to get inspire to trigger
you dont want your shield to break bc u cant shield bash without it, so try and save it for desperate moments, quick defense, or play around cover / behind your tank if possible
she is really fun, not as fun as in ow1, but she is a solid pick if you have a comp where there is at least one person you can peel for consistently, and theyre not playing so far away that you cant whipshot anyone or keep up with them; she is a good pair with rein too cuz his shield can help you play closer up
This. You basically hope that your second supports sucks, the enemy tries to dive them and THEN try to help said support. I mean in what world is brig better than a Weaver with a grip to another place/highground, a Kiriko with cleanse, Illari with a pylon or even moira with just a heal orb. Its not like brig as something amazing that makes only her is able to do.

Iād argue that even against dive thereās better heroes you can play than Brig.
Especially against the dive tanks, your whipshot hardly does anything against the tank passive. But donāt worry, tanks are weak btw :))))))
She is VERY map dependent, but if you have good shield management skills sheās doable on the right (good) maps. But on maps like numbani, or other garbage maps like Blizzard world, where HS just gets āfreeā high ground, youāre screwed.
Who else is going to bring the punishment with an egg whisk.
