What is the point of Brig now?

I have never come to the forums and of course have never posted before. Not sure if there are some unwritten rules I should now, but anyways.

What is up with Brig right now?

I mostly play Quick Play and I think I’m Brig main since is the hero I have more hours with and the one I enjoy the most. But since the last update I can’t play her anymore, not sure what even her role is supposed to be. I cannot really brawl with her because I get one shot.

I feel like I need to make double or triple the effort to heal anything anymore. Compared to other supports which can heal from a “safe” distance most of the time (if they don’t get one shot by a sniper or hog just when you peeked to try and heal). But with Brig, you need to do Whipshot, and since right now there are only hitscans, your only targets are Hog and Zarya, who will kill you.

Not sure what is her point anymore. Am I supposed to only play her as a bodyguard of the other support, hoping the enemy team has a diver so I can do something besides throwing packs and Whipshot?

Are there any favorable matchups for Brig anymore? I don’t mean like a hard counter or anything like that. But something that doesn’t kill you when you try to proc Inspire?

Are there any maps where you can play Brig anymore? I have always used cover when available, but how are you supposed to heal as Brig if you are behind a wall or corner all the time, and cannot really hit anything and when you try, you die.

When I say I main Brig, I don’t mean it in a way that I won’t change if the situation requires a different approach. If I see a Phara, I change to something that will help to deal with her for example. Other supports I play are Ana, Mercy, Moira and Zen, but mostly because sometimes you need to change, but Brig is the one I enjoy the most.

Why Blizzard, the OWL (I see this comes alot in what I have read on the forums these past days) or whoever is in charge of the balance, doesn’t want me to play the character I enjoy the most?

What changes can be done so I can play her again and don’t feel like I’m throwing on purpose?

Giving her back her 50 health? Something different? I won’t even pretend I know how to balance a game, but this is very frustrating.

Thanks for reading if you took the time.

The point of Brig is to show just what a horrible train wreck this game has become, and a cautionary tale of what happens when you start putting the tantrums of man baby streamers and OWL investor money chasing above just making a good fun game

She is the worst support now. If you want to play her, it is ok. But I feel like she is so weak healing, that I don’t even waste my time with her.
Blizzard finally killed her. And that is sad, she was really fun

they didn’t nerf what was strong on her.
she is just not meta anymore because doble barrier isn’t meta.

Her Health was not one of her Strengths?

You don’t brawl with Brig anymore unless it’s a full team push.

Your job is to hit Whip Shot for Inspire and and toss out heals primarily. Go for the stun on flankers, a healing Hog, or other critical targets when possible.

No, it shows the imcompetency of Blizzard and how they listen to what people say, but make the worst decisions.

Though as for Brig herself in her current state, she doesn’t fit the meta for once so she is seen less.

The point of Brig now is to relish the panic an enemy Hamster goes through when you stun them, and that’s about it nowadays.

Shes a punching bag rn

Or as Zarya likes to put it “Target practice”

Maybe Brawl was the wrong word to use, I’m not that familiar with the terminology.

But why then play Brig at all if you are only healing when you land Whipshot ( if there are any available targets that won’t kill you in response) and with 3 health packs? I mean any other support can heal in a somewhat continues manner.

Also, stun the flankers, what flankers? Any flanker, if any are present which are not, can kill Brig now, Tracer doesn’t even need to get close to you, Doomfist kills you, maybe Genji only (If he makes the rare mistake of getting to close to Brig)?

Stunning a healing Hog? Then you die to the Zarya behind him or to all the other hitscans or dps in general the area. What other critical targets? That’s the problem, there are no other critical targets from which you can do a value stun and not die instantly. I don’t even remember when was the last time I stun an ulting Reaper, or a reaper at all.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I want Brig to be meta, I really don’t care too much for the meta (ironic right?, since I’m posting for the first time in the forums). But why one of the 7 supports has to be so useless in any situations of this “meta”?

It feels like Brig is less than a Niche pick since there is really anything she can contribute to the team now.

At this point, I won’t ask what can make her better, I’ll ask what can make her less bad and irrelevant?

Even then there’s not much panic lol

Brawl just usually means your in the middle of the fight. Brig can still do that, but she can’t be aggressive about it like she used to. She has to follow the teams lead or she’s dead pretty quick.

Stunning any of the above listed can help the team follow up. Also, there are tank flankers like Ball who you can completely kill momentum on which can be valuable. You’re right her duel potential is quite low now, you need to make call outs and rely on team to follow up.

Again, you need to have a team that’s paying attention. You interrupt Hog’s heal, knock him back possibly, toss up your shield to block a hook, and hope your team can focus him down without his heal/damage reduction up.

Ball, anyone casting an ultimate (there are windows where you can cancel many ultimates that aren’t even channeled since Brig’s stun is pretty much instant), any hero who is focusing on using a cool down to survive (Mei, Tracer, etc.) can ruin their day.

There’s plenty she can contribute to the team as I’ve listed above, not to mention she still has very strong overall healing potential. She just doesn’t have the solo impact she used to, she’s very team reliant (which isn’t uncommon for supports).

I’m not sitting here trying to argue that Brig is top tier, just trying to say how I observe people still make her work.

Thanks for the clarification and your inputs. What I was referring was to hit a couple of targets, proc inspire and get to safety.

The points you mention are things that I already have implemented to some extent in my gameplay (not saying I’m an expert or anything, I just have played a lot of Brig and have picked up on some things).

And I understand what you say about that she is not top tier, what I’m trying to say is that I don’t mind if she is not top tier, but she feels so below the bottom tier that is frustrating to play her.

brig is just dead for now.

Brig use to be a great support. She was like a fusion character, like a tank and support. OWL players and streamers ruined her because DPS is law

The point of playing Brig is to suffer as it is no longer apparently meta to play her. Personally i think this is a bad approach for a video game as i believe any player should be able to play who they want with a reasonable chance of Victory.

Jeff Kaplan 2016-2019: We will never remove a hero from the game, if a character is either to strong or to weak we adjust that. We also can rework certain heroes like we dif with Hsnzo or Torbjörn.

OW Devs 2020: lets just remove Brig and Shield Cow and make Main Tanks irrelevant

Heh. The OWL is a priority as some executive promised that the OWL would be an easy soource of cash for rich investors

I agree, not all supports can be the best, but why the bottom one is so far behind?

The ineptitude of the devs. Sadly…
