What is the point of being a main tank if your melted in 2 seconds

Seriously, every tank feels like they just get obliterated in this game. How am I meant to make and take space if shield breaks immediately then I’m slept, hacked, purpled, then killed all with in the spam of 5 seconds before I can even get within range.

Honestly regretting being a tank main, my near 200 hours of Reinhardt have not prepared me at all for what I’ve experienced lately.

this is one of the many reasons why good main tanks are difficult to find, having a shield that dies within half a second and takes 10 seconds to recover feels pointless might as well go roadhog or zarya(or ball he is a main tank)

This game is honestly not fun in the slightest anymore. Getting 6 silly wins for a hog skin seems like a insane ask :sob:

Contrary to popular perception, Ball does have team protection capability.

He puts 90 degree ledges between the enemy and his allies.

keep in mind i have every single roadhog cosmetic that has been released, not even going to bother to re install overwatch to get his new skin, just dont want to play anymore

i mean obviously i am still interested in the overwatch universe, i enjoy watching others play but playing any overwatch seems like a bit too much of a steep punishment

honestly ball can be an amazing main tank, if they are focused on his ridiculous HP(with the shields) then they are not focused on you

Same here honestly. I’m really worried about the overall direction of this game. The console experience is so bad right now. It’s literally either legit new people, Thowers or flat out smurfs. It royally sucks

Balancing for GM 2-2-2 means everyone else has to make do with cardboard tanks.

i was on ps4 too, i could just create unlimited free accounts if i wanted to, so getting a ban doesnt hurt me at all(well apart from needing to grind to level 25), i have had people standing in spawn all match and then saw them 2 weeks later doing the same stuff

i never really assume someone is smurfing however i mean i know it happens but i am curious how common it is, sometimes you just have a beast match so some of those players could be like that, but its very hard to tell but throwers are easy to see when all they do is sit in spawn the entire match and sadly at least in my example that didnt get punished

Overwatch League is what has triggered all of these endless nerfs to heroes who aren’t even a problem in 99% of the player-base’s games, not GM.

Two seconds? They buff tank hp or something

everyone thinks they need to get picks but it helps so much when people just stay alive long enough for your team to regroup.

i do wonder what overwatch would be like if overwatch league never existed

Making space is misnomer if you ask me, you’re not making any space, the enemy is still on that “space” and you can’t get them of that space for more then a few seconds. The dps are the ones that kills them and removes them from said space. You’re job is about creating a diversion and/or drawing fire so that the squishy but high dps heroes can go in and get some shots of/advance to the next cover without immediately getting shot in the head and die. Tanks are the only class that can walk point without getting instagibbed by a widow so if you think you melt fast imagine how it would be for dps if they tried to walk point.

You walk up to a choke, you look behind you to see if you’re team mate are close enough to actually get some shots of before your shields melts. If they are you go forward, if not, you wait. Then you just pray to the mmr god that your dps will melt their shield faster then they melt yours. Ball is a bit different, you either push the enemy away from choke or you just bypass it completely and start harassing their backline/stand on the objective to force some of their team to go deal with you, which honesty works pretty well on all 2cp maps, at least point A.

Higher up you go, faster you die, actually.
5 seconds is far too lenient.

I wish I was joking about that but I’m not.

Just revert the GOATs nerfs, then rework Sigma’s shield

Adjust as needed

Popped fortify as Orisa in a game today, and “dared” to walk out in the open. Health went from full to 0 in a whole second thanks to 2 mcree headshots and half a zen volley. Damage is ludicrously high

If you’re dying consistently as a tank within 2 seconds, we have a problem outside of tank balance. There’s absolutely no reason that should happen unless you make a mistake that leaves you vulnerable or the enemy has a huge advantage on you(more ults, more teammates alive, etc). Whatever team focus fire the enemy throws at you, your team should be able to mitigate by healing you, providing peel and threatening the enemy team with damage, allowing you to live fairly long before one side gains the upper hand on the other.

Maybe I’m 2head to understand this, but this doesn’t sound like “tanking”. What was your objective in advancing with no cover and only your face to block bullets with?
