i personally hate it. i think its boring, either you win really easily or lose really easily, not much inbetween. plus, i dont think people have figured out the optimal way to play flashpoint anyway.
the way i play it is like normal KOTH maps, but instead of fighting while travelling to the next flashpoint, i jus run there straight away. i see lots of people using ults in that window of time and it makes me question whether they think they win by getting kills or win by capturing the objective. and i also see soooo much staggering, which is even worse than KOTH because of how quickly the point gets capped. sometimes my team gets barely two fights on the objective before its capped because people are staggering their brains out. but i could be wrong, so my question is;
what do you think is the most optimal way to play flashpoint?
What tends to happen is that after a point is captured, the capturing team has longer distance to it than the defending team. Usually, the enemy spawn is closer to the point than your own.
There are ways to abuse this, but I dont’ think its been shared too much so far. Try to regroup to your spawn ASAP instead of moving directly to the new point. Group up, then push point and deal any straglers.
I still hate the map because its too wide open and players in a ladder environment get way too confused with so many routes to take.
Mainly play flanky but key would be to have two people flanking, solo flanking will work on heroes like hanzo or tracer who have fast ttk, others cant solo flank.
basically pincer attacks.
Not to is the most optimal way.
Oh look a flashpoint map (qp mind you)… promptly avoid a random teammate… and leave match, and requeue.
Avoiding stops matchmaking from throwing back into that same match, mitigating racking marks to a leaver penalty…
Ngl id rather have assault maps back… most were bad due to map design, but they were at least be fun.
Flash point is basically a walking and respawn simulator, because people generally dont regroup

Optimal? Win the first fight.

I think there are lots of heroes that are just bad on Flashpoint and always will be, eg Kiriko is so much better than Ana or Zen in that mode. Standard walking speed is a liability.
Apart from that I always ping the objective when a new one becomes available as it’s easy to miss it and run in the wrong direction.

Maybe I’ve just been lucky with New Junk City and it hasn’t been quite as necessary, but on Suravasa I’ve taken to going to Lucio off the bat. Being both personally fast and being able to provide speed to others is an even bigger deal than usual on this map. It’s no good having an Ana on side if she can’t get to the flashpoint in time.
I generally shy away from playing Lucio nowadays because the guy can give me RSI, but luckily Sura doesn’t crop up that often.

Optimal? The points take forever to activate. There are no tactics. It’s just a point capture.
Would be cool to see 3 points activate at once tho. That would be… Messy.
