What is the best way to play Echo?

I’ve always wanted to learn how to play Echo, because I really like her kit and ult. She seems very fun, if you are good at her. I want to get good at her, but I am very bad at her :worried:

I’m just bad at flying characters in general, it’s very hard for me to aim at targets that are on a different elevation than me… I’ve started experimenting with just staying on the ground behind my team and waiting for an enemy to be in a vulnerable position and that’s when I take to the skies, swoop in close to them, and strike!

It’s been working out better than just trying to stay in the sky by myself, but I don’t know if that’s because I’m playing against bad players or if that is a legitimately good tactic.

Can someone that is good at Echo give me some tips on how to play her?

It’s a common mistake for people to think that just because echo can fly up in the air that you should be playing her like that, she is not to be played like pharah, her projectiles are much harder to hit when you are up in the air and they have no splash damage like pharah rockets do. use her as a flanker/assassin kind of hero, use her flight in order to get to your desirable position and not to shoot at people when you fly up in the air like you would with pharah, she is close to mid range hero so you don’t have to be afraid to get in people face where it would be easier for you to land her critical shots (just have to watch out for things like flashbangs obviously) she is also very good at finishing off low hp enemies with her beam so staying with your team and helping finish off the kills is not a bad idea either. if you mostly stay grounded you can save up your flight for when you gotta close in on a retreating enemy with your beam.

some tips:

  1. Use fly to get out of situations, only fly in when you absolutely have to

  2. Use your bombs from far away if your target is stationary or 100% hittable like roadhog dont use them on shields, its a waste

  3. Use beam when your enemy is about 30% health, if any higher you take too long to kill and you dont strafe when beaming.

  4. A headshot (closeby) plus melee does about 155 damage, you can kill tracer and baby dva in 1 second with this combo

Thanks for the tips :slight_smile: . I started playing Echo more like a flanker and not flying through the air unless trying to escape and just had my most successful game ever.

Even though I usually play tank… most common mistake for people on Echo is that people play Echo like Pharah. Echo is played more like tracer, surprisingly.

Destroy your enemies. Obliterate them until there is nothing remaining to defy you.

Spam from range to farm Ult.

Go in for Beam Combo when your Hard Counters are down.

Dupe tanks to go in hard and make space.

Ya, I’m a Tracer main. I started playing Echo like Tracer in my vod above and was getting a ton of kills. It was fun. I think I might be an echo main now :slight_smile:
