What is sombra’s purpose?

What dies she bring to the table?

Sombra’s purpose is to perma hide to throw games whenever you get a team full of potatoes and it’s too painful to play with them.

Her purpose is to be annoyence. She spam voiclines and spook healers in backline. And sometimes hack tank or two.

you go and sneak attack someone with your high burst damage stealth attack!
oh yeah she cant do that, but every else can, so your dead.
oh, well you can go and sneak attack but instead of attack you hack them!
oh yeah hack is useless unless its on reinhardt or bastion…
ok, well you can still hack health packs to help your team!
but you have no incentive to do so since you get no ult charge…

She’s the embodiment of Widow’s infra-sight

But, but, she’s like, the bestest scout! That’s totally super useful.

Never mind how unnecessary “scouting” is with the small map size and fast-paced game-play, never mind that to the degree it is useful, it can be done just as well by other flankers and snipers while actually participating in the fight.

notes: . Genji and Tracer are flankers, they can engage and disengage quickly , they can get picks alone and if detected they can still get value .
. Sombra requires the team to help her which other flankers dont.
.Sombra entire kit will be affected by dmg , 1 dmg and sombra lost her mobility , if detected you are dead, she cant fight mid fight since hack gets canceled by 1 dmg.

Sombra dosnt have high burst dmg , she gets kills if enemys are already dmged most of the times , and 1 dmg leaves her in the open to be killed , this not counting the current armor meta.

Scouting. Duh!

Nah, but as long as Goodman is in charge of hero balancing we will never see a working Sombra. His “vision” for Sombra just isn’t a viable hero. How many times can he mess up her balancing and still play the “Well, people just don’t understand how powerful she is” card?

The fact that he refuses to listen to ANY feedback isn’t exactly helping either…

Her original idea of disruptor is diorganising and disorienting the enemy team and pulling their attention in the worng direction, allowing the rest of your team to capitalize on such oportunities.

Her primary tool for this is supposed to be hack, which is supposed to slow the enemy down, force them to retreat or make the rest of the team spend resources in order to save them. But it fails because it’s either easier to keep them alive than to kill them and Sombra herself is bad at securing kills, even on hacked enemies, which leaves you reliant on your second DPS, or they aren’t affected by the hack enough to make them retreat in the first place. This wouldn’t be such issue of you could hack on cooldown, but last changes to it made it difficult to pull it of consistently.

Her secondary way of disrupting the enemy is her stealth and translocator. Pulling atention in your direction with safe way to escape afterwards. This fails again as other flankers and some tanks can achieve this as well with the added benefit of the ability to secure kill on enemy support and they can do it for longer.

And lastly her passive. The “oportunist”, which is imo the best passive ability in the game, but on a hero that has a hard time utilising it and in game where healing is very strong. Having it on Tracer or Genji would be a nightmare as they are able to quickly close the distance and strike with burst damage before the target gets healed. Sombra, though mobile, isn’t able to achieve such big burst of speed withouth using her translocator which is risky. Stealth itself is detrimental in this regard as it has long animations and after recent nerf it no longer provides enough burst of speed previously needed to catch up to said targets.

That’s my understanding of the intended use of her abilties and how it fails to apply in practice.
