What is peel? Tell me

How would you guys define it?

Simply - Coming to the aid of a teammate. Pretty much as simple as that really.

It’s the sound a tire makes when you quickly accelerate out after being previously parked.

in all seriousness tho, this is how I imagine “peeling” in OW to be as well. Your roadhog quickly 180s and hooks that flanker sneaking up on the backline. That sort of thing.

Old school cutie, probably before your time.

Peel is: You’re Zarya and you see McCree got caught in TNT. You bubble and clear the fire damage. Not Peel: You ignore the McCree and keep shooting at enemy.

save ally from damage.

Peeling is also when an enemy flanker can’t get near your supports cuz a Mcree or Brig or D.va are controlling that/supports space and are threatening you with cc’s and flashes if you go in.

This

Basically.
Giving Doom bubble as he’s about to go in is peeling. Matrixing rein as he lowers his shield to attack or firestrike is peeling…

Peeling is helping a teammate survive damage or death

pretty much, peeling by making the enemy unable to kill or damage your ally in some form of way, you could call killing the enemy peeling too as the enemy that tried to kill your ally died before being able to kill or harm your ally.

Always thought of it as pulling people off your teammates - either literally, like yanking them away, or by distracting/blocking/killing them. Peel them off. Get rid of them. :stuck_out_tongue:

Basically don’t leave your teammates on their own out in the cold to be squished like a peel-free banana.

It’s a term that comes from MMOS – just refers to peeling “aggro” off of someone. Peeling a pesky Genji in the backline for example refers to either killing him or pushing him back and lowering the threat to your backline supports or DPS.

Yeah, you can technically peel just by shifting so that your presence alone is a deterrent, you don’t even necessarily have to save the person or kill the enemy; one problem I have with people who peel for me is that they get blinders on going after that Genji or Tracer that took a swipe at me, so as a healer I have to stay healing the team and they get lead off somewhere I can’t see them / help them AND help the team, because they aren’t considering line of sight or prioritization, and they lose the duel. Boom you just lost your peeler, and then the DPS comes after you anyhow.

Simply peeling and proving that you’ll be there if that person wants to take you on is what does it for me. You don’t have to win the fight, just stop the death of who you were peeling for, however possible if possible. That’s the priority.

when you spend a day out in the sun when spring arrives. A few days later is peel.

Wow, so many bad explanations here. Peel literally means to peel those pesky dps/flankers away from your healers. For example, shooting at a tracer who is attacking your supports will usually scare her away. That is peel, but every role can need peels sometimes.

First accurate answer, truthfully.

It’s the other option you have besides “try to get POTG all game and ignore everything else”. DPS players in my solo queues usually prefer that option, sadly.
