Again, it’s not about the number it’s about the ratio. If for every new tank player there are 3 new dps players - do the math.
Exactly. This is exactly why the devs are looking for a way compromise between a soft OQ - RQ for their 6v6 tests, because it was established that 6v6 role queue was unsolvable for 3+ years. They know you cannot have 6v6 AND role queue because the queue times will kill the game. Meanwhile, they also know that the game quality is better and more favorable to players than Open queue.
This is the reason we got 5v5.
There is no way blizzard will allow the queue times for dps to be longer than the actual match itself like it wa sin ow1 - this would implode the game.
I’m trying to say that the so called “tank synergies” everyone likes to reminisce about were not some deep/engaging gameplay. It’s not more rewarding to bubble your Rein (just so he can swing and not die) than to bubble your Genji (when making a play) for example. Second, I was teasing because nobody actually synergised with the other tank and played Hog into eveyrthing instead - that wa sthe reality of ow1 tanking. Third, unless you were actually duoing with a tank with whom you had active comms with, you couldn’t even properly coordinate a single dive/push - hence nobody liked playing tank - hence queue times were unbearable for supps and dps.
I?m saying all this because
a) I was a tank main that had a tank duo in Ow1. I was a tank main up to season 10 of ow2, I have over 200 comp games on tank per season, imho my voice has weight on the matter.
b) I couldn’t play dps and support in ow1 due to queue times.
c) This was the post I made when Blizzard started testing 1-3-2 (solo tank) in OW1 Completly unbiased review of 1-3-2 from a long time Overwatch player
You don’t have to read the whole thing, but at least read the conclusion.
