What is Hog's place in the game?

600 HP meat shield that feeds enemy ult. Meanwhile Hammond has shields that don’t grant any ult charge for them shooting.

Hog lacks the consistent damage power to be a threat in most team comps. He is paired best with Orisa in the off-tank position because of the halt-hook combo and the consistent damage Orisa puts out amplifying Hog’s.

Zarya already pairs better with Reinhardt and D.va pairs better with Winston. Hammond’s role is still up in the air, with some teams playing him as a main tank.

His only true utility is his hook on an 8 second cooldown. If he misses, then no value. Compare that to an Ana nade, hack or discord that is likely to find value or in the case of Ana, provide multiple benefits.

Should hook’s cooldown be reduced to 6 seconds if it doesn’t connect?

I never agreed with the original nerfs to his alternate fire, but understood why his primary was nerfed. However, by nerfing his alternate fire yet again on PTR, I feel he takes yet another undeserving hit. This is also a nerf to Orisa as the two as often paired, as noted above.

In fact pro-player Taimou has said: Roadhog is underpowered but he works due to Orisa enabling him. https://twitter.com/DF_Taimou/status/954679597752246272

His ultimate leaves him pretty vulnerable and can be stopped by any CC ability. I’d argue that Pharah’s barrage gets better value despite leaving her in a similar situation to be focused.

With inconsistent damage, only 5 shots in his gun before a reload, an 8 second cooldown on hook and “tanking abilities” that involve feeding ult charge, I feel he’s not in a good place.

Here’s my solution:

Hook gets put on 8 second cooldown if it connects, 6 if it doesn’t.
Increase alt-fire damage slightly OR add 2 additional shots to his gun.

To compensate for these offensive buffs, I’d say reduce his self-heal to 200 OR lower his damage reduction to 35%.

Man this joke was so funny like two years ago.

His role is the best throw character. His giant HP pool and large hit-box ensure that the enemies get a lot of ultimate; however, since he is a tank, no one will even accuse you of throwing. Perfect for de-rankers. You can even use his kit and it will not work regardless. Hooks you land will break and his fall-off is so great that either you deal virtually no damage while being safe and go deep for reliable damage and be an ultimate battery. Either way, nobody on your team will suspect a thing and nobody wants to combo with whole hog. So they will not even notice you holding onto it. Perfect.

Shieldbreaker, bad positioning punisher, and mid range damage threat

Not anymore, they nerfed his alternative fire. The only aspect of his kit that reliably busts shields is his ultimate. In fact, because of the fall-off and hook bug, he is not really a mid-range threat. He is still good up close for whatever that is worth.

His place? hmmm… i think a REALLY big trashcan would fit him good

no that was about reaper when hog was a way better version of him now their f tier trash together well hog is morel iek d plus tier but meh

Roadhog is and always has been a beefy dps. His hook is his main utility which sets up kills and can pull people off the map.

His take a breather is his panic button which makes him more forgiving to play. So hes easier to win on 1v1 if you arent good at aiming, because you simply face tank everything they throw at you.

We don’t know. Hog 1.0 was the OG Brigitte, but they replaced him with her and now they’re nerfing him so maybe Hog’s role is the same as Bastions?

His role is to be mega thicc

His role is SUPPOSED to be a bully, a big, beefy threat that can punish his enemies and kill them if they overstep their bounds, peeling for his teammates and setting up kills without really ever being vulnerable himself. He’s got a huge pool of health with Take A Breather, so he’s difficult to punish. Unless the enemy has a barrier, he can walk up, grab somebody, pull them to their death, and walk out.

His hook does not bug out nearly as often as you think it does. It happens sometimes, but it works as-intended most of the time. He’s still a threat while the hook is up.

I had 3 hooks breaking for no reason and 2 hooks going through people in 1 match today…
