I’ve noticed people saying Venture has quiet footsteps, or that the burrow is too quiet.
Personally I’ve noticed the same issue on plenty of heroes, and had many people tell me in game that they could not hear me. I’m using headphones on a laptop, with Dolby Atmos enabled and the Headphones audio mix, I haven’t changed any audio settings for months, so I think it has to be a recent patch that changed something.
Here’s a list of heroes I have experienced issues with, or recordings of gameplay with inappropriately quiet (or loud) footsteps/other sound queues.

YZNSA: Extremely quiet Zen Orb volley charge sound YZNSA himself sounds very surprised. It took me multiple replays and playing the clip at an uncomfortably loud volume to be able to make out the extremely faint volley sound. This is from personal experience, but I know that on Blizzard world 1st point attack you can hear Zen charging a volley all the way from the point when you’re just at the choke, despite how much farther away the Zen is. I think the issue is with how walls occlude sound in that clip.

Arrge hears a sneaking Tracer from 20+ meters away, however there are no walls between him and the room the Tracer is in when he hears the sound (0:05 in the clip), which is likely why the sound wasn’t occluded.

The rest is purely anecdotal evidence, but during the most recent Group Up podcast, SVB and Spilo mentioned how Venture has oddly quiet footsteps., same idea was repeated in this post:
Also this was posted on the forums recently in regards to Venture’s sound design:

I’ve also experienced this issue with Pharah, where sometimes you can hear Pharah jetpacking halfway across the map, at other times Pharah is hovering right above you and it’s dead silent.
-
Cassidy also seems to have inexplicably quiet footsteps when he’s just around the corner sometimes, so I mistakenly think he’s farther away than he actually is.
Have you experienced this or seen it on youtube/twitch? Post clips in comments so maybe the developers can find out what is causing these issues, and how it can be fixed.
