What is going on in comp?

Okay so let me first say I am currently a GM3-5 player on support, or was before the reset, and have been floating from Masters 3-gm3 since after Season 9 hit. Before that I was gm1 cause everyone was inflated ofc, but I started ow1 at my lowest SR at 628. At the end of Ow1 I peaked 2856.

Anyways, I find it strange since I just finished my support placements solo at 5W 5L where all my games were complete stomps one way or the other, I ended up at m4, okay don’t care about rank really, just trying to understand. I played solo where I noticed my winrate only about 40-50% at best playing solo que whereas when I manage to find a duo or group around my SR level my winrate is like 60-80% and games are a lot better quality.

Of course it’s probably because I’m able to talk to them since no one talks in solo que games really and I just want to know why I’m unable to win games solo in comp when I can play with duos and groups and just win almost every time. Am I just bad? I seem to get awful quality games most of the time soloing and my winrates are horrible so I think oh I must be terrible. Then I find a duo or group around my SR give or take a few divisions, and we win most with ease and they all tell me how good I am. They’re not even lying, I even ask them to be honest, tell me if I’m bad, etc. Nope, they all say I’m pretty good, everyone would be lucky to have a support like me, they can’t figure out how I lose so much solo. I can’t even figure it out cause I honestly play the same, I don’t throw, intentionally not heal people, have bad positioning solo or etc.

Just wanted some thoughts on this. Thanks for reading.

I doubt the match maker will make a difference.

You’ve got new season + interesting changes, and a cosmetic rank reset. You will probably be getting a lot of people who’ve either not played much, or not played for a while coming back. Plus people learning perks. Games will be a little rough because of player actions.

I have the opposite problem. I always lose in groups and solo queue is easy.

Play to not die to inflate your per 10. Always stop for 24hrs after a loss. Thank me later.

for every competent person you bring to the team you eliminate the possibility of having that slot filled by someone who isn’t.

It’s not a mystery that your win rate would go up dramatically if you queue with others, Probably up to a limit, Which I’d imagine would be three teammates in party. At four and five you probably get matched mostly with squads looking to pub stomp
