Something simple, straight forward, easy to get into. I only have a background in FPS and RPG’s. I keep seeing people comparing Overwatch to a ‘MOBA’ so I’d like to experience one for myself to see what it’s like
MOBAs are not easy to get into.
They have usually a pretty steep learning curve.
I would say one of the “easier” one is HOTS, but the playerbase is shrunk a lot.
It’s still pretty complicated but you need to know a lot less.
If you want something simple then Heroes of the Storm.
Pretty sure this is against coc. League of legends is fun, but toxic community. Also a bad. Client. But it is still fun
Heroes is good.
Paladins is a great mix of MOBa and Hero Shooter.
Smite, its the closest to OW, and Its free, and easy to pick up
they have an arena mode to learn heros, and once you want to get into conquest its map is easy to pick up
I have an account and could teach you if youd like
Just go with League of Legends. Arguably easier than Dota 2, which is the other main MOBA. Keep in mind the learning curve is pretty big and if you die, the game gets exponentially harder.
kek
The people who compare OW to MOBAs have no idea what they’re talking about. There is almost zero things in common between the two aside from the fact that both have heroes with abilities, but that’s a shared trait from RPGs.
League of legends it by far the most popular for a reason, Hots is easiest MOBA to learn but it is very team dependent so it hard to pop off and carry games
I have to disagree
Teamfights, strats, rotation, micromanagement in OW is pretty similar to HOTS.
Smite, Paladins, HoTS
MInecraft and minecraft dungeons
Pardon my ignorance, but from what I’ve gathered of MOBA’s is you have the ‘Trinity’ like in OW. Tanks eat damage, supports ‘heal’ that damage and damage…
damage kills things? o_O
I just want to get a better understanding of what others discuss so that I might be able to contribute to the discussion without sounding like a moron
People just say this as an excuse for heroes with “easy” mechanics. These people don’t actually play MOBAs because they’re pretty damn difficult.
Well I suggest league of legends Smite or Heroes of the Storm personally theyre all different styles of mobas but should give you a good idea of how it feels to play one imo
Smite and HOTS are also easier to get into imo League is Harder tho
HOTS tanks can deal pretty hefty damage, depending on the hero.
Eating damage is kinda right. They can peel and because they are a threat, either by damage or disruption abilities (pull, blind, stun, displacement etc), you are forced to attack them.
Really, the last thing you want is a tank in your backline
DPS, do DPS stuff, well kinda, their als utility focused DPS and macro focused (laning, exp eco, camps, push)
As a DPS you are the deciding factor (if you can land your abilities). DPS kits usually have a strong combo in itself. CD and mana management is key.
If you are good at reading enemies you can bait the enemy, hit them hard and force big heals, which puts the enemy at a huge disadvantage, not only a big cd is blown, also mana is burned, which takes time to regenerate.
There are supports who adds substantial firepower to your team.
Timing is key. You don’t want to mismanage your abillites and mana
What is crucial for success is setup and follow up.
stun into root into drag
bait into ult
follow up on dealt damage to finish off a target
Sounds hard, but actually plat/dia are regulary pulling things like this off.
GM it’s all natural, people just know when someone is setting something up and they are ready to follow up immediately
Ironically in OW people even in GM struggle with this concept.
Heros of storm is a good starting casual moba with a duration of the matches of 15-20 minutes
Leage of legends matchest last 45-60 minutes so i will avoid that one until you get used
If you want to play a game like Overwatch but as a MOBA, then try Paladins. If you are talking about a full-on MOBA, then try League of Legends.
Neither
Maybe HOTS. The game is quite easy to pick up (for me as a MOBA vet…)
But the big MOBA right now (you know, Dota 2 and LoL) have some of the roughest new players experience in any game that I have ever played.
Both of them are filled with smurfs. I know that when I played LoL, and as for Dota 2, there are threads of fresh meat players coming into the game, get their butts handed to them repeatedly by smurfs and account remakers for upwards of 20 to 30 games in a row until they settle in the right spot. But at that point, the players would already had enough and refuse to touch the game.
Sure in Dota 2 there are tutorials for items buying and last hitting, but they are so bareboned that you are better knowing the game mechanics by playing 5 games than actually using the tutorial. Hell, Valve hasn’t updated the tutorial ever since the switch to Dota 2 Reborn, which was a whopping 5-6 years ago (idk I lost count)
It’s mostly around the impact of the abilities.
Both MOBA games and Overwatch are set up around ults that completely turns the tides of the fight.
