What if the Founder Pack “extra gift”, was an “instantly unlock 1 hero for free” pass.
Assuming Kiriko, Sojourn and Junker Queen will be heroes that need to be unlocked.
TBH if that was the free gift I would take that as an insult.

Perhaps, but I figure that would solve most of the “Competitive Integrity” issues, since the people who are tryharding on their main role in Role Queue, care almost entirely on making sure they are competitive on their Role.
Where as they can take their time unlocking the heroes for their offroles.
Oh boy! Our extra gift is that Blizzard’s latest marketting move isn’t QUITE as scummy as it initially looked!

If it was instant acess to all future heroes like paladins did that would be nice. But given the look of things that would be too nice.

Waste of money. It’s pointless to immediately play the new hero outside of arcade and customs anyway as far as I’m concerned.

Considering the exact wording was “and unlock Overwatch’s newest Hero Kiriko instantly” I don’t see JQ or Sojourn being locked, so it’d double dip on Founders and Watchpoint pack privileges by instantly allowing you to unlock Kiriko twice!

I double doubt they’d have a permanent free unlock available for free to their supposed captive audience. For $30 blizz bicks maybe.

I figure the paid battle pass just unlocks all the heroes.
Did I miss something? Didn’t they literally just come out and say that heroes aren’t going to be locked behind paywalls? And if so, why are we pitching ideas like this?
even it is, they still want us existing players of the game to fork over $40 for something i have no idea what it is after sitting here 3 years getting “skill shotted” by sigmas, ball and hogs and having to play hitscan or hanzo every game or bap brig zen mercy every game to just maybe win a game.
no… its a joke how they treat the current players… giving them a measly icon for buying the game and playing throughout all these years and expect us to hand them over money.
- I figure instead of having a hero unlock on a specific part of the free battle pass. They could have “Hero Unlock Passes” across the free battle pass. So you could unlock the hero you want most soonest. Choose your own sequence of hero unlocks.
- “Founders pack” was that “Did you own Overwatch 1 previous to June 28th”, which is essentially free to Overwatch players previous to that date.
- This would also solve the “How do you unlock heroes in future seasons” issue. Since “Hero unlock passes” could be used to unlock any new hero.
But have they said specifically that you have to unlock them in the battle pass? I know they said heroes would be part of the free battle pass, but I wonder if it was just poorly worded.
OW2 is “launching” with very little new content. What an even bigger slap in the face to lock the little new content behind a battle pass.

The battle pass should be cosmetics only. Wish we could get a dev to clarify.

Well that’s kinda the point of this post.
If people could instantly unlock the hero on their “Main Role” then it prevents most the issues with that.
