Front charge, back charge, side charge; just a multi directional charge. Would that help him?
I figure it would improve his survivability because, if he’s facing an enemy holding W at him (like Ram who punches through his shield because this game is poorly made), he can slide away from him without hard inting.
Plus, all of his teammates will likely have mobility skills, and I figure they’ll be willing to use them to back off with Reinhardt.

It would help, but it’d be the jankest looking thing in this game and just be anywhere from annoying to unfair to deal with
Rein just instant 180 charges you for an instant kill, that sounds like fun to me

But it could be a qol feature.
If he wouldn’t be able to pin anyone unless he s going forwards, it wouldn’t break much.
Sideways and backwards could also only have half the distance than forwards to not be too op as an escape ability.
I would imagine they’d create directional animations for it. Like he’s hitting you with a UFC spinning elbow charge or something. With that in mind, I do think it’d be fair for a character with no range outside of CDs to be extremely dangerous up close, so I’d be fine with the idea.
Hmm, maybe it’d be better for a new Crusader character, then. I feel like Rein’s charge/pin is a big part of his kit, and losing it would actually end up nerfing him.
Only if he can’t pin in other directions.
doesn’t he already do that if you turn around quickly?
Technically yes, but that would require you to manually orient yourself. Its a lot slower than literally pressing a direction and button and having him turn himself. Or better yet, not turn and just move in that direction.
are you playing on sensitivity 0,0001?
you can swipe your mouse in 100 milliseconds and you’re 180° turned around, depending on your size of the mousepad and sensitivity
Turning on console isn’t nearly that quick though, so even if this sort of feature seems redundant for PC, it would be a big difference for most console players.
As long as he can charge all directions at the same time. Pinning all enemies in a 55 meter radius is a small QOL buff.
Turning still takes time. If the difference is between “just a second” and “now”, “now” will always be better.
But getting around and behind Reinheardt is encouraged though. Rein’s shield being front facing is part of his balancing and the more dangerous you make him up close, the less the enemy is encouraged to try to interact with Rein and the less the Rein has to think about.
I don’t think Rein needs any significant changes like that, especially since he kinda already can do all this when using the free camera with his shield anyways. But this is assuming they’d make it better than what Rein is currently capable of.
Omidirectional back-mounted jet engine?!
Im so in!
Can he fly/charge upwards too?
