What if Mercy could stack rez?

This is just a thought experiment but what of Mercy could save rez charges to use them all at once? Max 5 charges. It would take quite a long time for her to save the whole team at once so i see mostly 2-3 people getting rezzed (like tempo rez back then).
Of course cast time etc would stay the same. If she gets interruptes she loses charges depending on how many people she tried to rez.

Considering balance there are some variables:

Each charge could take longer to be ready (1. charge: 30 sec, 2. charge 40 sec, etc.)

Range of rez could be adjusted

She could only be able to use multiple rezzes during valk (she would still have to charge them before).

I think this would give her a variety in strategies she can be used at. It would only make her better but also cost her more when she fails.

What do you guys think?

I like this suggestion actually

It’d likely just turn into a snowball mechanic which isn’t great for an already snowbally game

This would make it really hard for teams to get a leg up over a team with Mercy. If she was at max charges, she could negate five picks during one fight.

I’d rather they trim down the cast time a tad and make it so that the CD is halved if she gets interrupted. That way, she has a better chance at pulling it off in a firefight, and if she gets stopped, she might get a chance to try again, but not for that person.

I honestly think this will not work.

You’d have Mercys intentionally not ulting an entire match just to have the teamrez in Valk. Which would put your team at a huge disadvantage (basically you lose a supportult for around 4 Minutes (if, like you said, it stacks for 1.30s, 2.40s, 3.50s etc).
Yes yes, I know that would be bad play and so on, you’d still get a lot of people doing it for the feels of old rez.

It would probably also lead to more toxic behaviour towards the Mercy players, like it did in the old days. You being forced to hide, you being flamed for not hiding, you being flamed for only rezzing 2, you being flamed for only rezzing 1 etc.

It would severely change Mercys gameplay and pace.
Not to mention to keep a mass-rez balanced, you’d need to keep the casttime and it being interruptable.

I personally like how she plays now, I like the pace, the risk, the ultimate which is hard to time right.
I wouldn’t mind them removing rez and just lock it at 1 charge in Valk.

Sadly I don’t think it can be touched, it could easily put her in a place where people have a meltdown and demand her wings clipped or something in compensation. Rather leave it as is at this point and focus on improvements to other parts of her kit.

No.

More.

Multiple.

Resurrections.

Why do we want to make rez an even better ability?

There are already cases where stopping a mercy that’s rezzing is straight up impossible without launching yourself out of position and feeding in the process.

She can basically negate doom, negate snipers, negate any sort of exit picks when a fight is done (basically meaning if you kill someone after a lost fight and you have spawn advantage, they no longer have to wait to respawn then take the walk back to the point, mercy just brings them back instantly), negate basically any sort of pick that happens in her back line.

I mean there’s REALLY no reason for this ability to be even better.

I really hate the idea of having to beat the bastion in their cheese comp 5 times before he stays dead.

in a way, this would also be a nerf. It would mean that mercy would be prioritized/focused more often because of this. Plus rezing is already super risky and doing a double rez during a team fight would probably be guaranteed death. I do get what you mean tho i think it would be cool in a way.

Did you play ptr moth mercy when she could rez 2 people in valk?

I played her then and it was completely broken. And I agree with a previous post, having to deal with a bunker comp with bastion getting rezes 5 times would be a nightmare.

I don’t even have much to discuss about the balance of the change.

More of the practicality of why I would use 2+ rezzes at once. Even if the enemies watched me stun myself half a dozen times, they’ll just burn down anyone I rez.

This is trading so much that one may think the change is not worth the trouble.

imagine just superjump ressing ur entire team back and winning the fight
that sounds hilarious

nah, make it halved when you self cancel it, not when the enemy punishes u

The idea is that getting punished prevents her from Rezzing that ally, but she might get a chance to use it later on a different ally.

Mercy shouldn’t be able to self-cancel. ā€œGiving upā€ on an ally goes against her themes, and Rez should be a commitment.

Actually making us mercy mains think? Why what an actually interesting idea that actually gives us more choices and better decision making instead of trying to buff mercy to where she’d be the most op hero again.

It’d be an interesting concept, but only if she loses all of them whenever she dies. So each life she has to start stacking them anew.

People will probably complain about how broken res is in a game like overwatch but honestly in current patch with the ridiculously low time to kill, an ability like res, especially if implemented like this, would probably breath new life into the game.

She was op while being able to use 1 charge at the time. Idk how this will make her any more balanced.

No… unless this is her ultimate then… actually sure
