Heroes like Soldier and McCree simply don’t have a good way of dealing with shields. They are forced to either flank constantly or play at a range which is favorable for the tanks they are fighting against.
They have both received substantial buffs but because they still don’t have a good way of dealing with shields, projectile heroes are straight up the better choice. Basically put, their new buffs can’t be put to good use because they are forced to constantly flank around shields to do anything.
Both McCree and Soldier’s DPS is very high but it doesn’t matter if that DPS can’t do anything.
I don’t think this change would suddenly make shields explode, I just think it would diversify the meta. Allowing hitscan heroes to actually be played against Bunker and other meta comps.
P.S Widow doesn’t count, she goes over shields anyway…
She’d do 120 damage anyway since you can’t crit shields

Keep in mind that bastion is also hitscan so your proposed change would make bunker even better in a sense.

McCree already has decent shieldbreak and any kind of focus on a shield melts it

That’s not what I am seeing…
McCree only has decent shield-break at really close range where he can use fth mutliple times to blow it up but that is exactly where tanks want you to be.
You are not going to beat a tank at their optimum range, especially after burning through your abilities to do so.
Hanzo and Widow are far superior, they can stay wayyy out of tanks optimum range while dealing damage to the tanks, either by flying above the shields or breaking them directly. Basically there is little the tanks can do against them because they are out of there effective range.
Soldier and McCree are both forced to fight tanks at a range that is far more preferable to the tanks than them.
People forget that most tanks are just fat DPS and there only limitation is their short range.
So, you want to take away the only advantage projectile heroes have over hitscan?
How is that supposed to even work?

First of all most hero’s can’t break a shield alone so indivual shield break doesn’t matter. Second of all widow and Hanzo require skill to get value out of. If you can’t aim then sure you can bypass shields but you won’t hit anything and won’t get value. Third McCree and soldier shouldn’t be going 1v1 against tanks anyway.

Projectiles deal full damage to heroes as well remember, I am only suggesting it for shields.
I will say poor Junkrat but he needs buffs anyway.
Bastion is not Meta
This is a link to a post I made about how he’s still barely used. He sees so little use everywhere with a bad winrate to pickrate ratio that he simply cannot be meta. Bunker is, but without Bastion.
Wouldn’t making him better at killing barriers take down bunker quicker because it relies on shields?

pickrates are out of who knows how many players are in diamond. Two games in a row is bound to happen sometimes, but not all the time. The odds are very low, but they’re there.

Shields are the counters to hitscans tho, they are supposed to render the shots useless…

There’s literally nothing wrong with shieldbreak right now. People are just too proud to shoot them.
not every type of player shloud be good in every situation. it make’s a lot of scence that a bullet want harm as mutch as bombs.

The difference would be minimal, the map already restricts most engagements to well within falloff distance or just beyond it.
Playing for shieldbreak requires a commitment from multiple members of the team, even for the other DPS- it’s not a hitscan problem. Honestly it’s not even worth playing for shieldbreak atm, going for the flanking crossfires as a team is vastly superior.
