What if Brigitte's shield did burst healing when it broke?

Instead of doing a major rework of her, why not just incorporate her shield into her healing kit?

My thought was that her shield could do a burst of AOE healing when it broke.
Similar to Zarya, it would discourage the enemy from shooting at her/her team for fear of providing a benefit to the team.

This would give her healing numbers the bump they need while still playing into her play style.

Or, having her shield up could amplify AOE healing that is currently occuring.

I think her shield is the ticket here. She was designed to have the team rally around her.

I think it is a really interesting idea though.

Maybe when it breaks it procs inspire.

I think they are doing a rework on her in the couple of months though.

No? We don’t want to incentivize her breaking her shield. Her healing numbers are actually fine as it is.

This isn’t a great PvP design because it rewards failure on Brig’s part and punishes success on her enemy’s part. Why should players be discouraged from doing their job and punished if they succeed at it? Zarya’s and Doom’s mechanics are on CD, and damaging through those abilities isn’t a requirement to kill them like it often is with Brig’s shield.

There’s probably opportunity to tie some other new ability to her shield though. Random example: shield bashing an enemy while they’re taking damage briefly increases their damage taken from the allies currently attacking them. Not a special idea, but the point is that this rewards Brig for success and punishes the enemy for failure.

Totally understandable.
What if, instead of rewarding her shield breaking, she was rewarded for simply mitigating?
An active ability that converts damage mitigated into a burst AOE heal.

I think the only real change Brig needs is to her ultimate. And maybe a little to her survivability, she kinda blows up real fast. But Rally is one of if not the worst ultimates in the game. Overhealth is nice and all, but it’s nowhere near as impactful as any other support ultimate. It doesn’t help protect from other ultimates, it doesn’t help protect from burst damage, a few one-shots still gets through it…

Rally is slated to get a rework, but we won’t be seeing that until season 4. I wouldn’t mind some number tweaks to it to tide us over.

Shield being shot procs inspire would be a nice buff. Numbers could easily be fixed like maybe every 50 damage would proc an inspire or something.

Overhealth on repair packs would be nice since they got rid of armour

The whole purpose of Brig is not to break your shield. Much like Reinhardt, she needs the shield to close the distance. Breaking it for a little more healing won’t do much good if you die anyway

I disagree. A 300 health shield is barely enough to close any distance in a real fight, hence my suggestion. It would probably end up staying active longer if the enemy team was discouraged from shooting at it.

Brig should use bash to get to cover or hit isolated target you dont really want people shooting at your shield to begin with

Or, let her Shield Bash stun enemies.

Cause let’s face it, Brig had the armour removed from Rally and had her stun taken, with a bunch of compensation buffs that, being real for a second, don’t do a whole lot.

Brig had the exact same stats coming into OW2, and she was bad, but provided value in OW1. And then she suddenly drops to the worst support in the game overnight after having her stun and armour removed, and this raised no eyebrows? People just don’t seem to understand why Brig’s trash tier now?

Let me be really blunt: She’s an anti-dive hero, without the ability to counter dive.

I would rather not reward bad shield management. Especially after its recent buff, you have no excuse for letting your shield get broken 90% of the time. I would much rather have a survivability buff like:

Shield Bash:

  • Damaging an enemy with Shield Bash now restores 50 health for Brigitte

Another get punished for shooting the target, no thanks.

i mean, shield is practically on a CD with how easily broken it is now.
