I dont get it, what changed? Matchmaking seems like a mess. Its always one game thats decent then one game thats either backfill in wood rank (both sides) or a game filled with bots/AIs (like actual AI not even a new player).
I cant even pick flex or tank because every second game is guaranteed backfill with much much lower ranked players and its just boring that way.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Stadium happened.
This is why I uninstalled. Almost daily now I have one good match the rest are just non stop crap games. And the games weren’t even fun weather I won or not. It was always one side had 50 kills the other was lucky to break 4.
The bot thing I only experienced once or twice and the bots would do very weird things. What I noticed was the bots going in 1v5 every fight or running to a corner and using their ult with nobody there.
Game has gone downhill and it seems like it is getting worst.
I feel like it’s been this way since before OW2. QP devolved into a stompfest a long time ago.
Nah, this is specific to OW2, and at least within the past year or so. Initial OW2 the MMR was actually pretty decent, but it did have its lopsided matches.
Anyway, MMR changes are coming in the next week, so we’ll see if there’s any hope yet.

QP in end-of-life OW1 was pretty dire.
its been bad since overwatch 2 launched.
but the real start of match making decline was Q4 of 2017.
It’s always been a mess. I was in a game this past week with a person in Masters. All three things. Tank, DPS, and Support. Highest level was Masters 2.
I find this hard to believe. I get a backfill once every 20+ games. Sometimes I have a long session with no backfill. Although I’m playing 5v5 QP and different modes may vary.
But the MM has gone wonky of late. The backfills I’ve had have been against really low level players, with me just carrying them to a win. I’m probably only silver or gold or something so that shouldn’t happen.
The other thing I’ve had just this weekend, are long win/loss streaks. I started the weekend with an 8-game win-streak. Then I had some wins and losses then got a 9-game win-streak. On Sunday I got an 8-game loss streak right off the bat. Now I’m in a short win-streak that might last, who knows.
Until recently - maybe the past week - I hadn’t had such long win/loss streaks.
And the win/loss streaks are very badly matched games mostly. I’ve had only a handful of close games all weekend.
Just logged in today to play 5+games - 1 was win, 1 was loss but good one, other 6 were like this one > NC73NM
Right at the beginning 3-stack left, meaning they prob also had one (I assume widow+pocket mercy+hog) and we just were a never ending rotation of backfill players
I’m not sure if Widow was using hacks, but she prop 99% was smurfing + she wrote “Report me pls” at the end???
I wasn’t leaving corners cause I just knew i would die and die and die … it was useless(

Same reason here for the uninstall last week.
I have almost 3k hours in this game, love the heroes, love the aesthetics of the game.
But the Stadium wrecked the matchmaking so bad, the quickplay is feeling hopeless. Stomp or get stomped. Either i’m the Doomslayer or i could not even get out of the spawn. Barely any matches that goes back and forth.
QP matchmaking has always been garbage, at least since OW2 launched and they messed with the matchmaking bands to prioritize queue speed over match quality.
Stadium is part of it, but another piece that’s making the games so incredibly miserable is that all the Sombra, Doom and Ball players that can’t play their heroes in Comp roll into QP. So the number of just utterly terrible, game ruining characters is sky high in modes where they aren’t constantly banned out.
All the same! Just I didn’t uninstalled… I keep playing hoping that “Now I will have those cool fair matches! I know it!”…and they never happen ( once in 6-10 games maybe)
So I won 6 QP games in row and lost 2 games afterwards but what’s really interesting is in those two games I decided to check the profiles of enemy team and my team
Enemy team has players with around 1.6k to 2.2k hours with ranks between diamond and masters 1
Now I was playin with my gf and her sister
I have around 800 hours diamond 1
My gf has 1.8k hours diamond 4
Her sister around 500 hours gold 4
Then our two teamates who were probably a duo had 60 hours 1 was bronze 4
And other unranked
It’s weird why they wouldn’t give us two at least high gold/plat level players lmao
Also the 6 games I won 2 of them were rolls and 3 were difficult tightly matched games and 1 was just pure luck
There never was any matchmaking in QP.
I can attest to this. I remember getting a t500 pharah player (open profile and everything) in my QP lobby… I was silver at the time. It was NOT fun.
I stopped playing in s3. Came back now. QP is still the same. Play your first game, stomp win. Lose all games after that.
what do you queue as? When I flex it gives me almost only tank, with one game being decent and next one being instant backfill in wood ranks. I dont know if because I stopped playing comp my mmr went wonky, but its very consistent for me. I almost dont queue tank anymore because of that.
Im not even trying to exaggerate, its really every second game, sometimes two in a row.
