The mass majority of the people streaming OW2 beta stopped streaming the game after one day. Were they paid by blizzard to stream for one day? Are they just bored with the game after one day? What happened?
Streaming is a whole lot more work than you would expect.
They are likely recovering.
I like your name, I think he’s a nice actor and cannibal woods lurker.
I also like your question. Are the streamers already bored?
While that is true, a lot of the people I followed are still streaming. Just not OW2
They’re probably burned out after playing both the alpha and the beta. That’s like a month of playing the same exact thing, and the changes between the alpha and the beta aren’t THAT different.
My guess is that they’ll be back on occasion or when new content drops.
True, it was just a guess on my part. I mean, you could ask them?
Xqc hasn’t streamed in the last few days. Literally no big streamer is streaming rn for some reason.
A lot of the ones i watch said since its just qp it gets dull fast, whitch i agree beings i dont like to play qp in ow1 either. Once blizz makes more changes im sure ppl will come back to check it out. It be really cool to have beta competitive. Alot of viewers dont like watching qp either
The big streamers were just brought in for a few days to advertise. The regular gang of long timers is still there.
Q times
There was a twitch drop event for only one day. That was an opportunity for streamers to get a massive amount of viewers, I think XQC reached 250k (maybe more I wasn’t checking) and many streamers who streamed that day did so for the entire day. It’s a Sunday, streamers will be back to streaming soon enough
Some people who I’ve never seen play let alone talk about Overwatch were playing. Asmongold was one of the streamers that got a key from Blizz and streamed it for several hours. My guess is, some if not all received some sort of incentive from Blizzard.
I think it has something to do with Twitch attempting to cut the pay of their streamers
Ah that’s true. I don’t really get the point of that… like Asmon is strictly a MMORPG player last I checked, unless he’s branded out since quitting WoW.
Their payment was to get people watching them to obtain a beta key. That’s how they obtained their money by more people watching them.
Of course they jumped ship. Everyone I watched you could tell after an hour or two they hated it. The game is not good.
While perhaps some of the biggest streamers got paid, it’s a common tactic in Games these days. I highly doubt it over all, mostly due to the fact it is just a beta and OW2’s release seems so far away for them to waste any significant money on building up hype.
The far more likely answer is people streamed OW2 because they thought it would be popular, and then they were disappointed with the numbers and moved onto other things. Never mind being a closed beta match making is a huge joke with top 500 former pro players matched up with low bronze or worse.
Also because nobody is interested in Overwatch anymore. Streamers play games to make money and that means playing the ones everyone is interested in. And Overwatch isn’t on that list anymore.
So far OW2 feels better to me, but mainly only on the new maps. Old maps are still bad design.
The numbers of people watching took a nose dive so streamers going to go to what generates views.
Ow 2 current beta is a flash in the pan. You watch see some cool stuff but over time it turns into been there done that.
The good news is if the devs are aware then the next content drop they will bring the heat.
If not, well it is what it is. This will be like most sequels where it’s a shadow of the original launch.
tons of streamers have said that overwatch isnt a streamable game. the queue times are atrocious compared to other online competitive games. i dont think that means there are less players playing then other games.
