What DPS should I learn to get out of Bronze?

I am a Mercy main, and I do play a lot of Comp games with Mercy. But there’s a thing, Mercy is heavily team-based. If her teammates is like sht, she is going to be sht too.

Not to mention there are also a humongous amount of healer mains out there, especially Mercy mains. I even have to fill in the Tank or DPS slot in some of it.

I currently have zero experience on any DPS heroes, except for Widowmaker. But I play her mostly, even exclusively, in Widow HS and FFA.

I have no idea where to even start, I just want to know who to choose and their pros and cons. Please help.

If you one-trick Symmetra you should be able to get out of bronze. She requires no aim or skill, just strategy, but can have a huge impact.

Watch “stevoo” videos and see what he does. Should be able to get out of bronze in two weeks as it will take time to learn her.

I was placed 700 this season. I had really bad aim since i never really played any shooters. After i was placed so low i almost quit. But i persisted and trained my aim. The easiest dps to play is probably soldier76. So i picked him up and got used to sensitivity and tracking targets within qp. I would say going to dm to practice aim is a good idea but now its almost useless. There are 4 to 5 brigittes every game which just messes everything up. Quickplay is much more of a practice of aim because enemy team plays atleast 4 dps which means you get used to genjis and tracers and other annoyances. Once you get used to your sensitivity you want to improve on your aim. I think averaging 30% is pretty average for a soldier. But if you have bad gamesense you need 40% to balance it out.
Now some tips on soldier:

  1. only shoot at shield if there is nothing else in your line of sight
  2. if you are having bad day with aim, focus on tanks and get ult charge.
  3. go highground for your ult and only drop down if all the tanks are dead
  4. dont ult if dva nearby
  5. burst fire 3 shots when highground but autofire for tanks
  6. watch dafrans map guides for him
Goodluck man. Learning soldier made me escape from 700 to 1919 in 1 season. Although now im stuck in the 1800s.

I’d tentatively say Pharah and more confidently Genji or Tracer.
Pharah exploits the weakness of hitscans at this level with most unable to aim. However as you climb she gets harder to play with no mercy pocket, or so I’ve heard.

Tracer/Genji also prey on the ranks lack of aim but unlike Pharah stay fairly viable throughout matchmaking; its just that Pharah is more annoying to an enemy team.

Or as said above you could practice soldier to shut Pharahs and Genjis/Tracers down; often a game’s win condition as they carry games solo.

For Bronze, Roadhog might be a good choice. He can really tear through less experience players and can even end up with gold self-healing at the end of the game. Just practice your headshots and hook/melee combo.

SINCE U MAIN MERCY

I WENT 2550 season 7 from 1900 in a week (HEALS RECORD 18000) , one tricking her and then fell as i got bored of her she is the number 1 pick to climb from bronze/silver
so
CONTNUE ONE TRICK MERCY BUT

  1. Watch a You Tube video for 3 ESSENTIAL CHANGES IN OPTIONS :slightly_smiling_face:

A) Guardian Angel prefers beam traget OFF
B) Toggle beam connection ON
C) Toggle quardian angel OFF

YOU DO THIS CHANGES 90% YOU WILL BE AIRBORN IF U PRACTICE GLIDE/SLINGSHOT
  1. Practice gliding (hold jump constantly wile on air)
  2. Practice Sling shot JUMP to difficult to explain go u tube (unless u know how sattelites fly to planets, gravitational slingshot jumps its a NASA term)
  3. HIGHER YOUR SENSITIVITY u don’t need aim assist u need to swing the staff fast.
  4. Use the gun only when needed a blue beam to a dps dose more damage than your gun = MORE POINTS 4 U
  5. Never care for your flankers UNLESS THEY COME TO U they dont expect to get healed they go for health packs. Its on their nature of design.
  6. Stay BACK protect yourself at all times U ARE TARGET NO 1 remember to ask always yourself wile in the ZONE / mayhem
    A. Can u do your job
    B. Are you safe ? THAT HELPS ME ON POSITIONING AS I LOOSE CONCENTRATION
  7. Forget rezing frontlines … UNLESS U HAVE a tank 2 help u ON THE MIC not on your wishful thinking.
  8. Learn that the BLUE BEAM is almost equal to the yellow one. (U GET POINTS FOR OFFENSIVE ASSITS)
  9. Also Flick the staff like a spastic to give a bit of beam to all your teamates DONT STAY ON ONE TO TOP HIM UP
  10. REMEMBER WHEN U SEE A CRITICAL RED CROSS on a DPS and a TANK heal the DPS a tank get critical at 150health a DPS at 50
  11. Better RES TANKS (if u have an option) they cannot die instantly wile resurrected as a 200 DPS hero
  12. Your ULT is useless YOU ARE MORE IMPORTANT TO STAY ALIVE use it every time and often when u are in deep truble to evade or TO GO FAST TO THE POINT AFTER A DEATH …

Basically u play the best hero to level up.

As u pass mid gold play 2 more healers i suggest MOIRA because she is easy and maby zen AFTER U ONE TRICK MERCY TO PLAT and try them ON A SEPPERATE account otherwise in 6 games back to silver
(the system will punish u with with worst teamates vs better enemy if u play a “BRONZE” Moira on your PLAT level account even 1 time , they do so to punish SMURFS )

Play less comp on your main account.
Find a tank to duo que. DPS u will find lots randomly.

IF U INSIST ON DPS (I have lmtd experience) go
Soldier 76
as he can score 5 medals (heal included) and he is self sustain plus u will have 30years of reference / experience from all the war games since the beggining of FPS late 80’s

Any hero with self-sustain is good at low ranks because of how un-dependable teams tend to be. Junk is excellent for people with bad aim. Soldier is what I used when I placed bronze ages ago. Hog is probably quite good as well. But I recommend improving your skills in general, as simply swapping heroes won’t make you significantly better at the game.

You could start by playing Zenyatta, that way you’d get a feel for playing a damage role without being a dps. When you feel ready, start playing Soldier 76, Bastion, Junkrat, Symmetra, and Pharah. Do not start playing Tracer, Widowmaker, Genji, Sombra, Hanzo, Mcree because those require skill (some at least) and if you’re in bronze as Mercy you probably don’t have that.

Just Mercy.

In all seriousness, play what your best at. That will give you the results you want.

DPS won’t solve your problem, it will likely just add to your own and others.

Try Roadhog, he is a dps/tank hybrid with self healing.

He is a good middle ground, as you can fill a tank slot (he isn’t a main tank) but can have longevity on the pt and he can 1 v 1 almost anyone (though be careful with brigette, ana and reaper)

He will help your team compositions, be less reliant on the team and contribute to the kills as well as any other dps at least at the lower ranks.

Just try them out and play what you enjoy the most. I don’t think there is really a good answer to it.

If you choose to go this route, you might want to never be in chat of any kind. You’re just going to hold your team back and guess what, you don’t gain SR by losing. Go to QP or Deathmatch to practice your aim and positioning. Despite what people say, you can learn there. Stay out of comp until you can grasp what the hero is used for otherwise, you’ll be back with a post talking about leaving Overwatch.

out of experience you probably shouldn’t touch widow lmao

Honestly, widow aint bad at all. If you can do really well with her, run her. Bronze folks run in straight lines and aren’t behind shields, ever.

Learn soldier, he can be so good.

Also, raising skill level in one other hero will cause your SR to rise more quickly. The system looks at your previous performance as well, so, let’s say you are better than half of the other Mercy players in your rank, then the systems sees you’ve also become better than half the other players in your rank at another hero… it really does make a difference. Even when I raised a few of my heroes to a paltry 30%, SR increased dramatically.

I thinking picking a character to main based on recommendation for rising is entirely the wrong thought process. More than anything to climb out if Bronze you need a character that you feel comfortable with and play WELL. There IS no semblance of a meta at that level, or even Silver really .If you limit yourself to others recommendations, you may never try that one character that resonates with you. Maybe for you it IS Widowmaker. Lord know there are enough poor players to take advantage of

Mercy is easy to climb with… and this may sound rude but it’s the truth - you just need to be good at her.

In bronze, you can literally pick up any hero and if you are good you will climb because bronze is the bottom of the bottom, bronze can’t do anything right. No aim, no gamesense, no communication, no good movement, no good ult usage, no teamwork, no awareness (i.e. most bronzes are deaf and can’t hear footsteps behind them), they don’t even know how to use the kill feed and tab to their advantage, and likely 20fps pc.

In other words, if you are good at at least 1-2 of those things, you will get to silver easy.

Mercy puts you at the mercy of your team being better at the other team. At low bronze all the way to low gold, a phara can easily carry the game, just by throwing in damage. There are good and bad maps for her, but overall you should have a positive winrate with her. Just avoid staying on the ground as phara, and avoid flying in the middle of the air with nothing around you. Try and stay close to walls to use your concussive mine to move quickly with as well as for cover from stuff like bastions. You can kill bastion as a phara at range, he has damage fall off and bullet spread, you dont. Just hit him 4 times to kill. Aside from that, if soldier uses tac visor, just drop to the ground and wait it out. same with mcree.
