just that the person who typed it is confused at something, i.e. “I don’t understand,” “What do you mean,” etc

I think he means when someone kills someone, they type “?”
Generally it means they’re trying to be snarky.

When people type it in chat it either signifies
A. Confusion
B. How did you die
C. Essentially talking trash in a non-reportable way

^Trying to be snarky about killing them and indirectly taunting. You see a lot of GM players do this and thus a lot of lower ranked players mimicking GM player behavior.

I mean, occasionally, but I wouldn’t bet on it, generally-speaking.
I’m the type that likes to type out my thoughts like I will type out ‘Nerf this, Winky Face, Love D’Va’ rather than Nerf this ; ) Love D’va.
My favorite “you have no business using this taunt” is QP Widows who only got 5 kills that match and still have the audacity to type “sit”.
It’s short hand for questioning the situation, what just happened, or what someone said.

Yeahh people get real salty really fast sometimes. Like, I started Widow on Oasis, got Valk’d twice and so I went Moira, killed her and tactical crouched her, and she was like “You’re Moira and 1 hp that doesn’t deserve a t-bag” as if there’s some kind of global rule for tactical crouching.
