Competitive playtests for Overwatch 2 came out about 2 weeks ago and im wondering:
what do you think could be the possible meta for this game?
IMO i think brig would be OP in this game.

The meta known as the developers favorite pets. If you are one, you get buffed until you matter, if you’re not…well…
Right now, we know for a fact that sombra is ridiculously overpowered
so something with her definetly
Meta will unclude Tracer 102%
Mobility will be the king since CC will barely exist so WB, Bap or Ana because of utility and smth else
Based on the changes that we have on Exp, I think Sombra would be less of a concern. I am afraid that a lot of DPS will be changed more like they are doing right now.
i think any character that punishes positional mistakes is going to be hard meta for the first season or 2
who that is depends on the changes they make ofc
Impossible to know really without knowledge of other heroes they’re adding…or even further changes….hell most of what we’ve seen could be very different from the final version
If I had to guess, Ball-tracer-sombra-zen-brig dive will be extremely strong
Probably something with ball or Roadhog
It will be whatever screws over the tank the most plus a hitscan.
Sombra/Tracer and whatever pretty much because even if Sombra is losing her CC that would make her considerably weaker in the current state of the game, with one tank less in OW2 that is not the case and hence the compensation buffs for her are massive buffs for her. Meanwhile Tracer is just simply the most busted hero in the game and gets a massive indirect buff from 1 less tank and more deathmatchey games and getting picks with pulse bomb will be a lot more valuable
The meta will be the Sojurn, Mauga and Fox girl, I guarantee it
It may be worth considering how the meta shifts throughout ranks.
Maybe tank-explosion tactics will be stronger in lower ranks, as they’re easier to target, while dive tactics rise in power as coordination increases.
Obviously its impossible to say due to not even knowing the direction they’re taking with the Supports now that they’ve said they’re not going to do the combat healing reduction… and also not knowing the new heroes or the reworks…
But, if I had to guess…
Dva/Hog/Zarya
Tracer/Soldier/McCree/Sombra
Brig/Bap/Zen/Mercy
But, the entire point of going 5v5 is to improve solo carry potential. So if the game is good enough, there won’t really be an all-defining-meta like we have now due to current hero synergies (specifically Tank synergies).
Imo, Winston is gonna be top tank. He’s going to have some wicked burst potential with leap, alt fire, land, melee combo
100% impossible to tell because we don’t know what the finished product will look like nor will we have played it.
Anyone that makes a guess and is “certain” of it knows the least due to not being able to admit how little we actually know
But I bet there will be 1 tank 2 DPS and 2 healers as the meta
Theorization is the first step to understanding any unknown. Nothing wrong with making an effort to understand the game even when we aren’t given the whole picture.
Archaeology and paleontology have made some pretty compelling deductions this way.
You can’t theorize accurately when they are changing how every hero works.
You can only theorize with current 6v6 balance which with some thought you will see that all theories under this lens will in fact be wrong.
If we had all the hero changes it would be different
We dont
Not all. 99%.
And as we’re given more information, that drops to 98%. The 97, 96, 95…
It won’t be impossible to make an educated guess as to how the game will function by the time only a couple unknowns remain, like Junkrat’s clip size or Mei’s Cryofreeze duration.
Sombra, and a lot of quitting.
Alt f4, pro strats.
