pretty much the title. I just want to know how you guys see alts and smurfs, and what types of smurfs should be banned?
And alt is an alternate account to practice new heroes or whatever, a smurf is an account where the user intentionally lowers their rank so they can win easily. That type of smurf should be banned, and it’s really the only type.
An alternate/secondary account created with the sole intention to terrorize lower-ranked players.
Also applies to people who have alts to practice other heroes they’re worse with but then decide “I’m gonna play my main for this match”
Any alternate account, until you are placed back where you belong both in QP MMR and Competitive ranking is a smurf. Whether intentional or not, you are playing at a lower skill level than you actually are, you are smurfing. That being said, no I don’t think smurfing should be banable so long as you are actually just trying to climb and play normally.
I don’t get the point of only practicing new heroes on secondary accounts. Every match I play I consider practice.
To me a Smurf is a player who deliberately plays at a rank lower than their actual rank. Personally, I think it should be a bannable offense since it undermines the ranking system as a whole, regardless how fast they might get back to their original rank (according to Blizzard). Although I understand how it’s difficult to tell if someone is smurfing on purpose.
An alt account created with the intention to play below your actual rank.
If they get placed in plat (can happen) or any rank. Then throws until they get down to 500sr. That should be banned.
However, when you meet these special snowflakes, don’t be tilted or swear in vc as they’ll report you for abusive chat and blizzard will ban/silence you. Afterwards some dev will come up to forum to say how many reporte were in that account.
Btw, that person wouldn’t be abusive if the reporting feature/game worked better.
smurfs should not be banned at all
I consider an alt account to be an account where you want to play a different role than the one you specialize in, drastically different heroes from your main, or (if you are a one trick) to one trick someone different. Also for streamers it can be a way to try and play anonymously.
A Smurf is an account that you either intentionally derank or an alt where you play your main heroes with the intention to stomp on lower ranked players on your way back up.
An alt account that they play that the only intention is to play in lower ranks
Thats a smurf
My alt account is different because i am playing at the intention to get better
Its A dps account and I main tanks so… im not that great
To me a smurf is someone who plays on an account that is on a much lower SR than his main account to stomp lower rank players.
Should it be banable? I don’t think so.
But they should really consider taking some measures to reduce smurfing significantly.
Force players to connect an account with a phone number or ID before they can play comp. If the phone number or ID is already connected with another account import their SR/MMR from the already existing one.
