I haven’t been keeping track of how many 6v6 modes they have been testing but I am playing the current one in quickplay, I think it was just in competitive but I don’t play that. Seems pretty balanced. Normally stick to 5v5 open queue. Better than role queue but that’s not saying much. Refreshing not seeing giga buffed tanks at least.
People have different tastes but I personally prefer 2-2-2 Role Queue. I believe Team 4 have a better chance at balancing a rigid team composition like 2-2-2 rather than a fluid OQ team composition. I do agree that Open Queue gives more room for creativity but the balance is always going to be out of whack.
It’s too chaotic for my tastes. For me, it would be viable with a maximum of 2 tanks and a minimum of 1 of everything.
But OQ was created to appeal to players who wanted more freedom in selecting roles and building team compositions.
If the OQ player base prefers this mode, that’s fine, I’ll just stick to playing my role queue games.
The 6v6 Max 2 Tank mode has converted me to a 6v6er and I don’t think I can go back to 5v5 modes. I want 6v6 M2T modes to replace the 5v5 OQ modes full time.
There were some horrendeous matchmaking issues in the first week, week-and-a-half, but it seems to be healing now. I suspect the problem was more to do with placements paired with an influx of folk who hadn’t played 5v5 OQ before, and so were given the baseline MMR when they really, really shouldn’t have.
I have my doubts that 2-2-2 RQ is sustainable beyond the first six months so I’m perfectly happy to leave that as 1-2-2 RQ or whatever. I understand that the benefits of RQ are a big deal to some. I’ll settle for 6v6 M2T and be grateful.
Hoping they get rid of it and bring back 5v5 OQ with shorter Reinhardt charge cooldown again!
6v6 Comp is the only mode I play now.
Im hooked on 6v6 OQ RQ. Its my second favorite mode. My top favorite is 1 Min 3 Max 6v6 OQ.
Im really enjoying this version as well. I hope it appears regularly into the future.
It reminded me how bad the 6v6 format was in Overwatch and why the team moved to 5v5.
There shouldn’t be two tanks. Making one into a juggernaut with two pure damage dealers and two supports who can actually do more than just heal bot was the right decision.
If 5v5 released before 6v6, it would be the superior mode no questions asked, even Kaplan realized this because he was the one who green-lighted the 5v5 decision before leaving.
Every game in 6v6 is a stomp like 5v5 but with less counter play and ability to come back even when making swaps. In 5v5, at least you can swap and stall the game a bit or turn it around.
I’ll stick to 5v5.
Overwatch really wanted to ape TF2’s 6v6 format, but with all the ultimates and stuff the game is just better suited for 5v5.
It should be open queue without the whole limitations of a max of 2 tanks.
For some reason, on my end, 6v6 min1 turned a lot into 1-3-2 and this mode is always 222.
And it comes with the same old problem : people won’t change roles and keep crying. They wouldn’t change cause it would, at least for 5s, modifies the holy sacred untouchable 222 formula…
I don’t know if there’s a balance problem but I feel some tanks combinations can create issues on some game, especially around… you guessed it, shields.
Take 2 shield tanks on defense King’s row and yay… the game becomes boring as hell cause either DPS will just shoot shields or the attackers will lose.
It might come from players behaviour cause, for what I’ve experienced, DPS don’t like to shoot shields, so they either pick snipers (I still don’t understand them) or flankers and will cry about lack of conquest/healing.
So, max 2tanks ain’t my fav. I feel, for some reason max3,min 1 was more enjoyable. Maybe its just because people read “2” so they lock themselves in 222.
I like it a lot. The two tank limit, that some find awkward and unnatural, seems to work very well. And the average gamer’s psyche seems to have changed over the past few years, where I no longer see this desperate rush to lock in DPS no matter what. It may not be permanent and I expect that over the long term things may change and settle differently with some of the history repeating itself, but for us to know this we would need to have the actual long term.
I’ll likely always prefer 6v6 over 5v5. It’s a format preference and I like the chaos. Hopefully we get 6v6 RQ for comp and I’m sold.
Open Queue was always something I only tolerated as a format even back in OW1 (I had pretty much quit the game until Role Queue was added), so this mode really wasn’t for me. I’m okay with it staying for the people that want it, though. I think it’s a little silly to only limit the Tanks (I’d say Min1 Max3 is the best configuration), but if enough players want it like this, then fair enough.
I’m not convinced on Role Queue in 6v6 because I doubt you’re convincing enough dedicated Tanks to play the format for an extended period of time to not bring back the queue issues from before. So I think the way I’d like the core permanent formats to go in the future is 5v5 RQ, 6v6 OQ, and Stadium, with the other variants (No Limits, Kingmaker, Classic with rotating formats, etc.) permanently added to Arcade. I think that covers enough bases to keep people at least generally happy with their preferred mode.
Imo, it is by far the best mode in the game
this is by far the worst Version ever tested.
(god please let it be only a test)
I mean honestly all of them and each single mode is kinda bs because they can’t be bothered having patch notes ingame for the modes with hero changes. Thats a instant - 10 points that all we get is “Enjoy the games in the arcade”
The current 6v6 combines all the worst things about ow, busted tanks, multiple busted tanks, no role q Structure so only one team uses multiple busted tanks.
This is what they need to push if they want to make sure 5v5 is the more liked mode, (Because theres 1 less busted tank and guaranteed 1 on each side)
Honestly I was so excited for comp 6v6 because the previous runs where actually amazing… you know when both teams had t he same ammount of tank and support. (Strangely nobody ever complains 4 dps teams are unbeatable.)
It’s the most fun I’ve had in OW2!
They’re clearly trying to solve the issues of queue times while also gatekeeping certain unhealthy metas from cropping up. They did a remarkable job with this format with the max 2 tank rule.
Min 1 - Max 3 also did this in a different way, but it works better with the max 2 tank limit, especially with perks also being in the equation.
Obviously, there are some balance issues, but it will be more manageable with this format.
Legitimately the best OW I’ve played!
Ship it as it is and adjust it going forward! This is the way I want to play Overwatch!
6vs6 role queue 2-2-2 is how this game should be played
to me, 222/122 is THE worst change made to this game by far - even worse than the upcoming second run of hero bans that will deprive players of their basic rights
if the game is open queue as main mode tanks shouldnt exist at all, nerf all of them to be what, more dps? if developers are still pretending ow is a hero shooter with moba elements role queue is a necessary, if you dont want role queue the all tanks and healrs have to be reworked to be dps so ow is just a shooter with operators
