I recently got my account permanently banned for ‘hacking’. Which I didn’t do, I finished a comp match and immediately got banned. I was playing mercy and I died a few times. My friends told me that my mods for sims4 could’ve been wrongly flagged and I should appeal but I’m just getting ignored. Now what?
Rethink your life choices?
Out of curiosity, what Sims 4 mods are these that would get picked up by Overwatch’s anti-cheat when (presumably) Sims 4 isn’t even running?
This will help!
For further elaboration the appeal process is likely your ONLY chance unless you are a well known player or content creator with contacts within the company.
The appeals people are the only ones who can do anything. They do not read posts and nobody in the company seems to notice anything that goes on here.
Keep submitting appeals.
Can only send in tickets to appeal if you really didn’t. Maybe some app got flagged wrongly. I dunno. I think it could happen with AMD software?
You can only appeal. Please include information on any software you have that automates mouse clicks or has built in macro software/onboard memory. These do trip the anticheat because they’re not supposed to be used in OW.
You WILL get auto-replies, but if you keep pestering them they will usually review. This is NO guarantee they’ll lift the permaban
It is unlikely that mods for a totally different game got flagged by the anticheat. And I have seen people use cheats for mercy (it was wild to see their pov.)
Another thing that may have flagged you is who you’re playing with. If you’re a mercy grouped with and/or hard pocketing a cheater, you’re getting banned along with them. I’ve seen a LOT of boosting services with a cheating DPS with a mercy ‘customer’ in tow.
Finally: Do NOT expect to be told what you were exactly banned for… they will never tell you this because they can’t tip off cheat devs as to what tripped the anticheat.
Write a respectful letter and ask them what their cheat system detected so that way you can correct your actions, and Never do this again, as well as warn others not to do the same thing ever again either.
This isn’t the first case I’ve heard of, where people are modding games like elder scrolls or other PVE games online and when they boot up their game. They get banned mid-way because the anticheat detects something is going on.
Phasmophobia is NOTORIOUS for this. People running game mods for other games, and the modifier does not close down with the game. So the game’s anticheat sees it, logs it, snitches and reports it to the company and they ban.
Some games out there require mods to run. Such as Supreme Commander Forged alliance. Because it won’t run smooth on modern computers. So it requires a modifier.
The reason why this happens is because some of these mod companies resort to making money on the side by selling or distributing cheats. And so the anticheat sees it and reports it.
The first anti-cheats out there were fairly respectful and would come up with a warning message for someone to close down their program (it would list the offending programs) and then they would allow you then to boot the game when it was no longer detected.
My sympathies OP. This seems like an honest mistake that had no impact on the game. But it also sounds like there was something there. You dont get actioned from one lobby’s report, you got reported by multiple lobbies then actioned against.
Is this a perma-ban? Can always make another account I guess. If theres money on the account then that really sucks. My sympathies indeed. Keep sending appeal tickets.
Uninstall overwatch and pickup gardening as a hobby, it’s much more peaceful.
Tried that, ended up with a giant man-eating plant. Killed it with fire… Loaded up OverWatch again.
Yea, usually cowplants tend to eat you in SIms4 lmao
if they say you’ve been cheating, you’ve been cheating and you don’t need to lie about it
the only thing you can do is to appeal the ban and that’s all you can do be honest and promise to never do it again and who knows maybe they’ll give you your account back
Just make another account (that’s why everybody wanted ftp no?)
I dont believe they do hardware bans
Sims 4 mods got me banned. Lol this is like when rust cheaters try to say they had downloaded a mod for skins on csgo and got banned. I cant even. Lol.
Find a new game, it is way more refreshing.
Typically after this i’d cry and start farting
The whole appeal process is a joke. You may just as well send your message into a volcano. Or a black hole. Or into a pit full of snakes that spit venomous fireballs.
Either they give you some BS reply from get go and later they just straight up ignore you when you demand an actual answer. And I’m not even talking for hacking which is imo the worst offender of them all. Their whole system relies on user reports and they literally check NOTHING. And if you question it, well, welcome to the pit of fireball spitting snakes inside volcano… I actually suspect their whole support system runs on some caveman ChatGPT model and they don’t actually have real humans for it. Unless you have the right name, then they shift the message to an actual human. For the rest, haha, tough luck.
This game does not need anymore cheating Mercy. You ruin the game for everyone else. Good riddance! /s
You start a new account. I do not believe they reverse bans for cheats.
Don’t start a new account. Stick it to Blizzard by finding another game/hobby. Why keep playing a game that wrongfully punished you?
only way i can see another games mod is if its uncommon and alters an exe a certain way. still i bet that mod whatever is may be unsafe anyways if not licensed or sponsored since it messes with exe files. maybe it does what its suppose to do in the sims but comes up as red flags for other programs and maybe even your own comp since if server side could potentially be malware or something
i use to pirate some games way back in the day but when i got a keylogger and got my wow account banned for a bit i was like never again lol
i never hacked in online mutiplayer comp games but i pirated a bit and learned my lesson.
downloading exes and trusting the source is bad news. i never do that anymore
