What do console users do when waiting?

The last console i’ve played outside of emulators was an NES.

Are consoles able to do multitasking now? Or is it still just one application at a time with maybe some sort background process (ex: Video capture)?

Just curious what you guys do when waiting for a game? On the desktop we send the game into the background and browse or watch movies while we wait. Are you able to “tab-out” or are you really stuck looking at a clock?

I haven’t had wait times long enough to do anything else, so idk.

It is only one game playing at a time

Though Overwatch literally has a “while you wait” mode built into the game

I just close Overwatch and I play Apex or Fortnite.

Idk, I just can’t imagine waiting 6-14 minutes every match to play dps. Sounds terrible.

I could be on my phone/switch but still, why would I wait so much if I can play other games?

Never have significant wait times on console honestly. Not even before crossplay. Heard from high level friends that M/GM wait times can be a bit. But in precious metal ranks, QP, and most arcade modes, games appear quickly.

At least in US during prime time and weekends. Others may have different experiences.

There’s this really cool thing called a phone, you should get one

You can “alt+tab” to do other things as long as you don’t launch another game. I used to check player Xbox profiles, scroll through the community tab to see clips people posted, only real issue is the console doesn’t warn you when it finds a game, so gotta “alt+tab” back and forth or risk getting kicked for inactivity.

That’s surprising, considering how streaming apps have been touted on different consoles and how powerful the hardware is now, i’d have thought you’d be able to flip between netflix and overwatch.

I don’t have to, i’m already 3D modeling and watching youtube while waiting. The question was for console users.

You can flip between multiple things without closing them, which things exactly depends on the console. The thing about it though is that flipping to something else disconnects you from the server even if the game doesn’t close.

I talk to my friends, who i play with. And have the best conversations.
Low key still blows my mind that pc players dont always do this.

What the Chief said.
But it is really more save to do the stuff on phone or tablet.

(Sometimes I read in a comic or manga. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:)

I tried to get one of those once. He made it two games in quick play and ducked out because it was too complicated. Forever solo queue.

On the bright side, I’ve only been playing tank, so I don’t have time to talk with the friends I don’t have!

Awww :frowning:
I have a stack I play with on console and we talk the whole day, even when we not playing.

I watch YouTube on my phone

wait for what? in the eastern US my queue times are not long enough for me to worry about it

ps4 and xbox one can do some multi tasking but its limited. im not sure about the newer ones

Deathmatch to warm up or practice with other heroes that I’m not ready for yet.

My wait times are rarely in excess of 10 minutes, though, and when they’re even that long I usually just slot into a tank/support queue.

I think you can open apps like Netflix and keep the game open but I usually just play deathmatch or something on the game forums like Nepal parkour or bastion maze until I find a match.
