What did you lot do for 3 Years?

yes and thank you for agreeing with me that he held enough influence within blizz to have the ow dev team name a character after him. as we can see employees at blizz work on multiple games, for instance Jeff Kaplan.

They only did it because they thought the name was perfect for a cowboy name it really didn’t have to do much with his influence or his accomplishments which it’s common for a lot of Blizzard games to have a lot of characters, locations and other references to be named after real life employees but of course this has since stopped after the lawsuit which for Overwatch they are no longer naming characters or putting in references named after real employees which they have already removed a few easter eggs in Overwatch 2 including ‘Jeph’s Pizza Corner’ (renamed to Pizzabot’s), the firefighter on the payload named Chacko on his back (Which was in the Alpha until Master Ian Gamer spotted it and it quickly got removed when the Beta got released) and Tim Fordsons (renamed to Tom Beansons) on New Queen Street.

ok. can we stay on topic for this discussion? i’m pretty sure the ow devs did not spend 3 years removing easter egg’s my friend :joy:

Okay, thank you. I still feel it is relevant.

That’s absolutely fine if cosmetics don’t have any value to you. You are one of the true “free to play” players, most likely. And that’s great for you.
Other people, like myself, find enjoyment and value out of cosmetics. We will buy them, and in turn, that will fund more heroes and maps for you and everyone else to enjoy.
beauty is in the eye of the beholder
I think we can all agree this is a better option than charging for new heroes.

I wasn’t saying that and plus they already given the answer why Overwatch 2 is taking which according to the Senior Hero Designer Josh Noh it mainly has to do with the PvE talents for each of the heroes which there going to be 40-50 talents per hero which they take as long as making a brand-new hero. So, there is approximately going to be about 1,400-1,800+ talents in the PvE across 36+ heroes.

Add in with the fact that there were real world events that caused development to slow down especially in 2020 when they had to work from home and Bobby Kotick making them doing projects that they didn’t even want to do just for those to be canceled making them waste many months of development.

your whole post is GREAT! but i wanted to highlight this.
i had no idea how much time went into this stuff.

I think you misunderstand what I meant. I wasn’t saying they have no value to me. I was saying they have no value at all. That isn’t to say people who want them shouldn’t spend money on them. People, including myself, often spend money on things with no value.

The cosmetics carry some want to have for me. I’m willing to spend some amounts of time or money to have them. They are fun to have. I’m just not going to try to convince myself that they carry any real value. That thought process will lead one to spend irrational amounts of money on in game cosmetics.

Very sorry I wasn’t clearer in what I was saying. Or made it seem as if I was saying someone is doing something wrong by purchasing them.

Why would they even name a character after a piece of trash sexual abuser anyways? Doesn’t matter if he worked on Overwatch or not

I guess you were talking about “intrinsic/real-world value” and I was talking about “personal value”.

No worries!

I’m in the business of helping people make wiser decisions with their money. Turning income into wealth. So it is kind of a auto reaction for me to remind people of what they are actually getting.

I’ve seen a lot of people who have a lot of income but no wealth who are pissing it away on things with no value. Like F2P games on their phone. They feel like, “what’s $40 to me”. Well it becomes quite a bit when you are spending it several times a day on things you don’t need and carry no value.

because its not like he went around bragging he was a sexual abuser when they named mccree mccree?..or do you ask everyone you meet if they are a sexual abuser before talking to them?

If it had been going on as long as reported from some outlets and it was a cultural issue as it had been called; I would think they already knew he was when they named the character. They just didn’t care.

Yeah actually ridiculous we only get three new heroes when we would’ve gotten around 6 by now if they didn’t abandon the game

i doubt EVERYONE knew, but I bet some did.
probably part apathy & part ignorance

I guess it’s possible that the decision makers didn’t know…I just don’t think it is likely.

Unless of course the reports of how culturally entrenched the behaviors were have been exaggerated.

i think more than likely it was a case of “Hey, whats a cool name for a cowboy. Hmm…hey, Jesse kinda sounds cool. Oh like that guy over in the diablo team? Yeah. Well if we wanna use his name, we gotta ask him first”

But they had the Bill Cosby suite in 2013

there is a space between the first h and ttps - just delete it. I can’t include links for some reason

Before Overwatch was released so they knew he was a piece of trash long before Mcree the character came out.

how?..again did he go around telling about his definitely more than likely illegal things to just everyone he works with?

He was in public Facebook photos hosted on Alex Afrasiabi’s Facebook in what they called the Bill Cosby suite

“One ex-Blizzard source familiar with the people presented in the pictures identified an HR representative as one of the Blizzard employees present in the hotel room.”

So HR knew.

No it isn’t, this game was made for PvP players and the whole OWL was based off the popularity of PvP… otherwise they would have made this game PvE in the first place?

People watch PvP games way more than PvE and they wanted an Esport… this was supposed to be a competitive fps, which fused together elements of FPS and Moba into an incredible game. It did it amazingly well and then after 2-3 years, they dropped all the content and the hype completely died.

This isn’t my assumptions, the game would bring in over 100k viewers+ on Twitch for OWL… then it went to Youtube, stop drops and fell below 50k and now on some of the best games of Overwatch 2 OWL they pull in 30k viewers.

Also

A beta isnt usually pay money to get into, because usually it is based on knowledge of the game and being able to provide decent feedback to the devs about the game. Thats why the amount of players who played the Overwatch beta became PRO players… because they know how to give critical feedback to devs. The feedback from this beta so far is

Stop changing stuff that never needed to be changed and fix the things that people have been complaining about.

At no point has anyone said ‘Fix Mercys movement’… because it wasn’t broken… but we have been telling the devs for ages to fix the bot Moira players who toss out dmg orb because they can’t aim. The problem is for every fix and good idea, they increase the bad ideas by double.

I’ll support the devs by paying but don’t say we don’t have the right to be worried about these character changes happening so late in the day… it is not a good sign.
