What counters Junkerqueen?

That is a bleed sort of effect, causes DOT which heals her. Pretty sure anti only applies for ult.

How can anyone even think this when Ana has unlimited range with sleep and nade with huge hitboxes, but consider Hog OP and unbalanceble despite only being able to punish enemies dumb enough to let him get within 20 meters of them?

By the way: Mercy’s turbo-pocket kit, healingcreep, double barrier comps, and the unnecessary addition of more dps heroes with burst range damage made hitscans meta even harder. Not hog who has been in the game since launch and only has a 20 meter kill range.

Geoff gave me the impression Wound does both anti AND self heal

I think when he said wounds in multiple ways, it was her melee, her axe, her pull. I don’t think he meant the anti effect of wound. In her abilites it states they all (except for her shotgun) bleed the enemy.

Man, why are all your design posts as if Overwatch is a 1v1 game?

Because everyone thinks that everyone can solo X players solo and not understand that that’s not how Overwatch works, or how Tanks were designed. Or are completely ignoring elements of Tank kits that would allow defenses against this.

Yes, Roadhog does not have a defense against Sleep Dart. You know who does? Genji with Deflect. So when you think Ana will be able to disable Roadhog, you’re failing to account for the enemy team that will be there to prevent that from happening, Genji might be on that team and might Deflect that Sleep Dart back at Ana or any enemy tank. And what you might think would’ve been a counter did not happen or does not exist.

Again, and again players continue to fail to understand the basics. They think of hard counters exist in Overwatch which has never been true. They think that Tanks can be countered or solo’ed, which has never been true, again. They think Hanzo or whatever “overpowered thing of the day” counters this or that without basic understandings of how Overwatch works.

Solo, Ana won’t kill Roadhog or even counter him, period. He’s got six times the health, and a lower cooldown on TAB than Biotic Grenade or Sleep Dart. There is no map which Ana can safely snipe from a distance where Roadhog won’t find cover and wait it out. And when that happens, it’s stalemate and largely in Defender’s favor.

Adrenalin Rush is her passive ability. Any Wounds she causes through her abilities will heal her. Her Ultimate will also Wound targets and prevent healing. Only her Ultimate prevents healing.

Ana fires off Sleep Dart at Roadhog, D.va intercepts with Defense Matrix, or Zarya barriers. Roadhog hooks Ana, enemy Zarya barriers Ana to prevent her from dying.

What happened to the counters?

I’m not really concerned with OW1 balancing.

I also don’t know why you’re talking about OW1 balancing in a Junker Queen post.

Its so funny how you think that delayed, high cooldown projectiles that have high impact because they are delayed and high cooldown are an issue, but a 600hp self-healing death radius hero is fine from a balance and design perspective. But like funny in the pathetic way, honestly.

Like legit Ana has been a bad hero every time real tanks are meta, instead of the blob of grease that gets hardcountered by Ana.

Exactly 1 hero has been an issue because of damage boost and it was literally a design issue with that hero.

You… know that DS was literally a response to hitscans being overpowered, right? Please say sike. Who do you think they were meant to counter? Symmetra?

Hog has been a design and balance issue since launch and he is in fact the very reason why Ana’s nade is so strong. Do you want to remove anti-heal? Delete Hog.

Not only that but also Hog, who has been buffed while real tanks nerfed into obsolescence, has become an even bigger issue in recent years.

I don’t think you quite understand. You don’t have to kill an enemy to counter them. Brig can boop away a ball or winston and shield bash them, that doesn’t mean she kills but she counters their dive.

I am a bit confused on what you are saying. Denying them space, or what they want to do counters them. It isn’t just killing.

If Ana nades a roadhog, he will probably get shot at then get behind cover. That is 4 seconds of him put of the fight giving up space.

Or maybe your team does capitalize on your nade and kills him. That is your team being enabled by Ana. She might not have done the most damage to him, but enabled the pick for your team.

Very reassuring to know.

They absolutely can and do.

This part is true however. Tanks never should be soloed by squishies unless in duels with tank busters or by range dps when extremely out of position. It should take two or more enemies to kill a tank. The problem is, again, you are confusing killing an enemy with “countering”. Countering is just shutting down their effectiveness hard by picking a character, which Ana absolutely does to every tank despite what bots will tell you otherwise.

Then you’re not using the word correctly. You could say that X has an advantage against Y, however slight, or to whatever degree you might think of. This would be more correct.

If you’re going to use “counter” as a generalist term against a single individual, that doesn’t work either, in the case of Overwatch. You can say that Ana’s Sleep will counter Moira’s Coalescence, as this won’t result in killing the target, but will prevent Coalescence from furthering its duration.

Likewise you can say that Roadhog’s Hook will counter Moira’s Coalescence, with the possibility of killing the target.

But you cannot broadly say that Ana will counter Roadhog because of this ability (biotic grenade or sleep), because that doesn’t work. And when you start factoring other elements of teamwork and play, then it gets a whole lot more complicated and nuanced. So the concept or idea that Ana counters Roadhog is just specious, because you’re creating a very broad statement that lacks nuance or objectivity and implying a solo 1v1 situation (which is neither realistic, not feasible in either context given the level of strength between the two heroes, and very nature of Overwatch as a team game).

“yeah yeah yeah, english, blah blah blah” is irrelevant. You’re on these forums creating a discussion or posting feedback. You need to be as clear as possible and understand nuance, otherwise you’re setting yourself up for counter arguments and for the broad swath of this forum, very, very, few actually grasp or understand the mechanics of how Overwatch works.

See above. “Countering” as a generalist term is being used wrong, here. Ana “countering” Roadhog (or Junker Queen) with Biotic Grenade or Sleep Dart doesn’t work in context, because neither option works in removing the target from play. If you want to say that Ana counters Whole Hog, or some specific strategy; that works as a statement. If you want to say that Ana has an advantage over Roadhog or Junker Queen… that doesn’t work either for a number of reasons.

But you can say that Ana would have an advantage against Pharah, and that Ana can counter Pharah’s Barrage.

I understand what you are saying and really appreciate your in depth knowledge. I was confused before because I thought you were being sarcastic when you said a genji can block a sleep dart from roadhog. Because the game sense of the Genji player to know where the Ana is, himself, the roadhog. To know this and determine the line of sight of each hero. Then to, I assume dash to the roadhog to deflect an Ana sleep dart. Not saying it is impossible but you won’t see it every game or consistently at all.

I get your point though, but Genji was a weird example. You could have said a zarya bubble or D.va DM.

I understand what you are saying about all the different factors but, a roadhog is never going to play perfectly. Nobody is.

To add on, when you play the game certain characters have advantages and can shut down other characters. An example is a ball into a Sombra, Reaper, roadhog, Ana.

I lnow you don’t like the word but, they do counter ball in some way. I am not going to play the game the same way, unless I am dumb, against those heroes than I would against a D.va, Zen, Widow, Ashe. Sombra really hard counters ball if she can hack. You have to play around that. Reaper I think is a great example of a hero when just existing applies pressure.

A ball is not going to win a 1v1, ever (also 1v1s do happen sometimes I understand there are always differerent variables) so he is usually not a target Ball wants to pick off or disrupt with his high HP and high damage upclose. He has tools to get away from a boop or piledrive. His existence can nullify what ball wants to do.

Lastly, what other games do you play?
No way someone who knows context, factoring in elements etc. Just plays overwatch. This is the first time I have seen someone really dive deep into the game and see what strenghts and weaknesses of heroes change the out come of a scenario. Usually people base things on purely experience rather than really understanding and asking questions.

I can see her being easily hooked by hog

Basically ana will massacre her but not as badly as hog.
JQ has no defense just like hog but she also doesn’t have hogs hitbox so she will probably have an easier time than him

That’s every tank if an idiot gets too close to them. Also, can’t wait until you find out about the burst damage DPS heroes and the distance of their death radii. But wait, dps are allowed to instantly kill enemies every second and it should be illegal for tanks to do that even if they can only pull it off once every 8 seconds, right? :unamused:

She was always busted and has only been kept in check and overshadowed by other busted heroes. Nothing new.

Orisa and Sigma aren’t real tanks, they are busted abominations. And Winston and Reinhardt were arguably buffed too much since launch. And you can’t blame the pig for that either.

I’m not even speaking about one specific hitscan. Mercy’s entire existence reinforces hitscan play. Ever since the devs were stupid enough to leave super jump in the game hitscan became the only effective way to kill Mercys using it as a dps. Mercy hard pocketing a ranged dps such as ashe or soldier from around a corner far away from enemy players gives them gross advantages over enemy dps. Such as more effective range, faster TTK, and a safety spot to rez for free. The whole dynamic encourages mirroring to out beat them, coordinating the whole team against them, being tiers better than them, or avoiding them altogether and instead going for the rest of the team. The fact that Rez is only a 30sec cooldown is a joke and should at least require consuming some ult charge so the Mercy can earn it instead of having it for every fight and respawn for free. Seriously, when you see a pocketed enemy hitscan you’re telling me you don’t want one of your dps to go a hitscan and deal with them? And when your dps don’t bother dealing with them who will? I’ll tell you who. Roadhog. You had it backwards. Tank players don’t want to put up with useless DPS but they also don’t want their dps forced to play counters they don’t want to. So Hog exists for tank players to deal with braindead mercy-pocketed heroes.

Roadhog literally exists for tank players who want to walk two meters without getting melted or needing to be escorted by teammates. Hence why so many people play him in this clown game where damage and healing are too strong.

And when teams do use double barrier how do you effectively kill them? OG DB was ridiculous and completely different from modern DB, but yes it was a natural reaction by pros who were hiding from OP widow. But let’s not pretend Sigma’s kit wasn’t gamebreaking and wouldn’t have been exploited if Widow was not oppressive. Hell, Sigma’s kit is still overloaded today.

With modern DB ranged burst damage like hitscan is the effective way to kill enemies during these short openings when there actually isn’t a shield or ability sponging the damage. Sustain damage doesn’t cut it. It’s a similar dynamic to the Mercy problem where she makes hitscans strong but also encourages enemies to go hitscan and/or Mercy to deal with them. Awfully balanced game, I know.

That was moreso Reinhardt actually. Hog’s problem at launch was his subspace hook. I think you may need a refresher on what 2016 Overwatch was like to play. Tanks were actually tanks back then, not glorified shield projectors.

No. An incompetent hero design team was responsible for that. A new support being added to the game that utilized hitscan with unlimited range could output 1.5x more healing than the defacto heal bot support was given the monopoly on anti-heal as well. It just makes zero sense and completely wasted the potential of non-healing or any anti-heal supports.

I’m not using it loosely. Sleep and anti are extremely oppressive abilities with low skill that can completely shutdown a tanks ability to hold space. Tanks like Hog or JQ would indeed be effectively removed from playing how they want to or even surviving because Ana simply exists. That is countering, even if it is just zoning the enemy without getting them killed. Like I said before unless you play a different OW than me where a slept or anti-naded tank doesn’t promptly die, this is the case.

She kinda just seems like a remixed roadhog, so… ana, a good brig/reaper, a better roadhog, etc.

Doomfist? His slam would directly counter her speed buff by applying a 30% slow to an entire enemy team without much effort or risk.

Damage boosted Widow is able to kick out 390 damage…

Junker Queen has 425hp

If Ana doesn’t get changed, she’d be the best counter by far. Anti prevents her self heal (I assume it would counter the over heal effect too from junkerqueen).

JQ also doesn’t have any tools to prevent herself from getting slept.
