Inspire seems to be a very problematic ability since Brig’s kit was designed to offer consistent value from everything.
Now they just made her squishier, which is riskier to engage people to offer consistent damage, which also made inspire less consistent, but that’s just very odd for a melee designed hero to be risky and discouraged to get into melee range.
So I wonder what could happen if Brig was only about healing with packs, and a decent melee duelist hero, no inspire. What could result from this?
The whole reason she has a shield, and close range abilities is so that she can play at close ranges, and the only reason that she has to play at close ranges is to proc inspire.
No idea what would happen, but inspire is like, essential to brig
I think inspire is a pretty integral part of brigs identity as a character, the problem mainly arises (imo) when the consistent healing of inspire is stacked with the consistent healing of the pack stack which makes her sustain incredibly high. I would prefer either removing or reworking pack instead and have brig moved to a comfortable anti flanker/dive niche, or a pick to slow down the pace of a game.
Not really. Imagine her free to duel and purposely kill people at close ranges.
Yeah, she end up being a “DPS” support.
Basically this.
By being a Tank-Support hybrid she has and offers too much damage denial utilities from both roles, which made Devs nerf everything in her kit to keep both aspects.
If She was just a Damage Dealer - Support hybrid, would it be possible to make her a functional Off-Healer?
I don’t like inspire as a support ability to be honest. Even Moira has to multitask to heal and kill things: Brig literally does both in the same stroke.
If she lost inspire, they could make her beefier overall to survive brawls better, but what I’d be really excited for is some upgrade to armor/repair pack, maybe making it more like Torb’s old one.
Yeah, but isn’t it better to make her a functional Off-Healer with strengths than just this weird hero bad at everything because she provides a little from many stuff?
She doesn’t really provide a little from very much. Brig is not a good DPS, no matter what anyone says. She’s an off healer with some CC, which is two things, and that’s it. Maybe a little tanky, but not much anymore.
Brigitte’s balancing is one of many moments where Blizzard seemed to just give a royal dam about their own concept. She’s a brawler and suppose to be good at close quarter - hence why everything she does is close quarter. Then they just nerf the living life out of her so she can’t be anywhere close to anyone with intention of murder her, as the intention (and a scary look) is enough to kill her.
What they should do is bring Brigitte back to her original concept of being a close quarter brawler, and instead tweak her stun and damage throughput. As she is now, she’s a joke. But then again, that’s pretty much the quality of Blizzard’s balancing procedures in this game.
Nice idea for a character, could make it a cool new healer. But for Brigitte I really want that healing aura Paladin, so if anything take away the current repair pack.
That’s what I’m saying Mitrovarr, by design she was supposed to be a consistent close range duelist, it’s just that they moved away from this too far at this point with current live Brig.
As a support, why would she use melee anymore if she only had health packs? If she was tankier, then she’s on the front line, which makes packs unnatural to use. If she isn’t, then she’s not using her tank and dps qualities.
Zen’s kit works with itself because of his positioning and that he enables damage for everyone. Brig with no inspire is just a tank. Make her a tank at that point.
Or remove inspire, her shield, her mace, give her mobility and improve pack. So make her Mercy.
I’d say the repair packs are the big issue, as they give her both too much healing potential as well as giving too much range healing to what was originally designed as an AoE healer.
In an idea world for me they’d admit that making her so reliant on her armour packs took away from her character, drop them down from 3 to 1, then revert her health change. Test that out, if she’s still struggling after that, up inspire’s healing
But that’s the trade-off.
She wouldn’t get automatic healing for dueling people and also be able to stand back and heal even more with packs.
She gotta alternate, that sounds less problematic in terms of offering consistent value since it weights on her decision making.
I don’t think they would do it for the same reason they made Echo a dps. They would never allow a support to have moments where they weren’t healing.
It might be cool as back line peeler, but I think if you go this route, really go all the way and make her an off-tank. That’s kind of what off-tanks do. Make repair pack work like Zarya’s bubble. Something like that.
I like the Idea of changing inspire from healing to a small damage resistance (like 10%) for 6s. That way she still increases her team’s tankiness with some unique utility, while moving her away from being such a good healer. We are living in 2-2-2 world, it is okay to have a healer with no self heal if the trade offs are worth it. But she would need some reworking to how she tanks if she doesn’t have passive healing, maybe back to 250HP.
