What attracted you to your main(s)?

Since we have the new forums, it would be nice to bring up this topic again. So, the title says it all. What about your main drew you to them?

For me, the idea of Lucio always intrigued me. Even with the smallest bit of lore he currently has, i’ve always found it interesting and in the future I definitely want the devs to explore the relationship between Lucio/Sym further. I liked the idea of a support having mobility as well, and I wasn’t just a free kill. Having the option of giving my teammates and myself either healing or speed is always a mechanic i’ll never get tired of.

And his voice lines, hello?

I tend to play Mercy or Moira, because I enjoy supports immensely. In MMOs I always either tank or heal (DPS bores me to tears) but in OW, I tend to avoid tanking unless its on Orisa and it’s an escort payload map. I play Mercy unless I find the enemy team focuses me and my team is too busy pew-pewing to care about defending me – then I switch to Moira and use her Flash to keep me alive while orb/healing.

Oh, I also am not the best with aim so playing a backline hero like Widow is a no go

By being my mains being Sombra, Mei, Orisa, Roadhog, and Junkrat. Just like everything about their lore and kits overall.

Because Moira looks like Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter. :joy::joy:

Lucio, as I can still put out damage whilst healing, because for me, nobody plays support in my games

I like the gameplay concepts and character designs of Pharah, Zarya, Symmetra, and Torbjorn.

I’ve got four mains, but one thing they had in all common is that they’re versatile and well-rounded.

  • Solider: 76 - His backstory is neat, and I’ve always thought of him as a protagonist if the game had a campaign mode. Also, his kit is highly useful and he has a potential for mastery.
  • Mei - She’s cute, she’s adorable, and she’s enjoyable to play as. Deploy an Ice Wall and shut down a D.Va ult, or make a cowboy regret saying, “It’s hiiiiiigh noon.”
  • Orisa - I favor her over Reinhardt in almost every way. At least she can deal damage while she’s on the move, and her personality reminds me of me: always learning.
  • Ana - She’s a challenging yet rewarding hero to play as. I also like sleep-darting Genjis who’ve whipped out their massive Dragonblades. (That came out wrong, didn’t it?)

A robot monk. What more can you say?

And Bastion’s charming nature of happy robot - that and the fact he’s probably the simplest character to play in this game and has so much salt against him. It’s fantastic. It fuels me.

Roadhog - Dude is a one man aporkalypse. Tanky as all get out, and can punish people for making mistakes. What’s not to love?

Doomfist - This guy is just pure fun for me. The nods to the fighting games I grew up playing take him and make him my go-to any time it’s reasonable to use him.

I would tell you a long explanation of why I think Reinhardt is awesome, but instead I’m going to ask you to watch that old hero trailer that has Reinhardt running around the corner at the end

Dva because she is a fun bot
Sym was my first main because of the uniqueness to her play style.
sombra for the same reason as sym.

Moira: She’s reliable, consistent and versatile.

I like that shes the Red Mage of Overwatch. I like that she dual wields her abilities. She personaility is witty and sarcastic.

I just wish she had a skin more to my liking. I’d like a long, silver haired Butler skin.

I liked Ana’s design, being a sniper that shoots healing darts from her rifle. I learned to love the feeling of being the main focus of the enemy team’s dive heroes, and it helped me develop my game sense as far as when to expect the next attempt at diving on me. Her sleep dart is my favorite basic ability in the game, and it enables a lot of cheeky behavior I’d otherwise never get away with. With plenty of practice, I can confidently hit ulting Genji most of the time after his first dash.

Also, her Snow Owl skin just further cemented my love for the character.

Usually hover between a couple different mains, though I’ll just mention the DPS heroes, Pharah & Sombra.

  • Had less to-do with Pharah’s personality, but more going with her playstyle, with her being as mobile as her equipment will allow her, and her rocket launcher being a rather decent weapon.
  • I started playing Sombra with the announcement of Orisa, and soon after spending more and more time trying to get her speed and momentum up, having more of a ‘support’ role through her hacking ability.

Beyond those two, Winston was initially a Sombra counter, then used him more and more, while I’m trying to get more time on Ana and Zenyatta to compensate time spent with Mercy.

really fun to play
cool looking
prettiest girl in the game too

I main Orisa. I’m very good at projectile prediction with Orisa’s gun(I’m actually worse with hitscan) and the tank playstyle has carried over from when I played Reinhardt. Overall a good and fun hero for me.

Moira because she siphons life from her enemies and sprays pineapple juice to heal her friends. I love her looks and her voice lines. Fade is cool too.

My back-up hero is D.Va, love her flying abilities and her skins.

My mains are Moira, DVA and Sombra, with a little bit of Tracer. I love their individual play styles and they feel extremely engaging for me. Over the course of the last few months I’ve started to feel much more proficient with them and I find I can contribute well with them when I’m having my better gaming days.
