What are your Overwatch Rituals and Superstitions

It can be destroying the arcade on Hanamura or the bike on Junkertown, so what are the things you do before a match?

There are a few things I do before each match:

  • Destroy the street signs on Numbani
  • Create a work of art with my spray on Oasis
  • Stand on the globe on Volskaya and emote
  • Shoot the popcorn out of the buckets without knocking over the buckets on Hollywood
  • In QP, Arcade, or Custom matches, I T-bag every Genji I kill

These are just a few things I have to do because if I don’t, I don’t think I can win the match.

I munch Doritos and Nano cola before Athena opens the door for the match to start

Destroy ALL the street signs.
No mater what you are doing or who you are, you must destroy them.

Also if I have time, go over to the enemy team and say hi.

Map specific:

  1. Blizzard world - Sit in front of the fire as Mercy and think about my life choices.
  2. Volskaya Industries - Shoot down all the banners.
  3. Junkers - Destroy the motorcycle and bask in my riches.

If you begin to destroy the Railings… you must finish destroying the railings… even if just the ones you started with.

  • Respond to everything Reaper says with Zen’s “Frightening” voice line.
  • Thank the person who healed me, every time.
  • Dance/Sit with others who are dancing or sitting.

Punch the hanging lantern in attacker spawn A on hollywood so it sticks into ceiling

I do a 360 with Reaper and look down at the 180 degree mark before looking back up every time I reload. It’s just a habit. I saw him do it in the museum trailer so I just always do it now.

  1. I always yell “Have fun and good luck looting” in general chat when arcade resets or “Good luck, have fun!” on other days just to set a positive start and let karma find it’s way to me.

  2. Reply “You’re Welcome!” for those that thank me as Mercy.

  3. Play the Futurama theme song in Dorado

Yes! This includes the side ones right against the sides of buildings.
Finish what you started!

Aside from the obvious destroying as much of the environment as possible, when I play Reaper (which is very often), I can’t stand going into a teamfight without knowing that my first shot will be from his right shotgun

My accuracy is probably abysmal on Reaper since I’m constantly wasting shots between fights making sure that my first shot on an actual target will come from his right gun (I’ve also given away my position a lot because of it)

The inner rails on high ground Numbani first need to be destroyed while the outer ones need to be kept intact. It appeases the boop gods.

nothing, fix your mental health, rituals are not healthy thing

  • Control Maps: Shoot down the wall panels up top in spawn.
  • Hollywood: Shoot the popcorn buckets. Wall Ride up to the overhang above the concession stand and greet people.
  • Rialto: Stare into the dimensional portal that for some reason exists without controversy in a museum while telling everyone that it exists.
  • BlizzardWorld: Ride the little eagle.
  • Every map: Use my Party emote to gain easy attention and put out good vibes.

Hmmmm.

  • Create a mini DJ stand with my Lucio’s emote.
  • Pushing people off ledges when they are afk (unless they are my friend, those I push off an environmental death ledge)
  • Try to bounce a basketball mid air.

Every map, I have to spray the door and punch it. Idk why I do it, but I have to.

As Tracer: Melee and/or spray every square inch of the spawn room while Blinking everywhere randomly and spamming “Hiya!”

If your teammates don’t think you’re on drugs by the time the game starts, you’re doing it wrong.

As Mercy: Stick a beam to someone and swing it like a jump rope. If your team refuses to jump and play along, leave because you don’t need that kind of negativity in your life. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, I got a good one for ya. With Reaper on Dorado attack, I will go over to the right side of spawn. A guitar sits there on a bench. I look out over the water and see all the happy people in their little boats. I wonder if my life could have taken a different turn… I could have been a musician. I could have brought joy and light and music to the world.

No. Not for me. I blast the guitar with my shotgun and turn toward the fight…

(Yes I actually do this every time)

I have to greet every player with the “Hello” voice line. Bonus points if it doesnt get interrupted by other people.

Also, everytime McCree dances, the “After you” voice line is necessary when he tips his hat
