Low MMR doesn’t account for Masters players losing most of their placements and getting deranked to low plat. Nor does it account for mid to high Diamond players getting the same treatment. Simply put it’s not fair to the people who got deranked and it’s not fair to the people who are trying to climb out of those ranks.
The placements this season significantly changed where you were placed depending on whether you won or lost the first game. Therefore, it has nothing to do with low MMR, at least theoretically.
Likewise, if you were lower ranked and you won your first placement game, the rest of your placements would go smoothly and your rank would be boosted past the previous highest rank that you achieved.
If you won and lost at an even amount then you got the rank that you had attained previously.
Want to know how I know this? I have several accounts that were at the same rank or there abouts. Why? Because ADHD is a cruel mistress.

MR and ow are failing to design a game where tactics actually matter to win.
People can win with bad tactics over the majority of time and thus never learn it.
So there’s bots, casuals, there’s try hard casuals, then try hards, potential streamers, fake streamers, maybe streamers, actual streamers, pro players.
Somewhere in there tactics might actually matter but only if your tank is more serious than you are, and your healer has to be equal.
