What are the best DPS characters to play in gold

I’ve been able to climb to a higher gold lately but I can’t quite get past 2480. What is the best DPS character to learn so I can climb (besides McCree)?

  1. One you like and are confident on
  1. One that counters what the enemy is using
  1. One that doesn’t rely too much on other people following up on it to get its job done

The more of those categories it fits into, the better, but #1 is, IMO, the most important.

Soldier 76, Hes a really good and viable hero. Easiest character to play in the game really, once you get that recoil down and you learn to space yourself or use high ground to pick off healers, you can easily climb to diamond all by yourself. What I love about soldier is his ability to self heal or heal his team, the guy is hitscan so its just point and click.

My one tip when you want to catch someone by surprise is to use the rockets to hit someone first and then use your primary to finish them off as they bounce after getting hit. If you start shooting first then the enemy will have time to react and counter you. Soldier is just really good, if you cant aim then I suggest using torb.

Seriously who cares that the turret aims for you? Who cares if torb takes no skill when getting kills with turrets? When I face some OP tracer players, I go torb, it pisses them off because they are forced to focus the turret more than harrasing my backline. Its an easy kill on tracer and genji too since their mobility cant escape an auto aim turret. You are playing to win right? Who cares if you use torb? I dont care about the hate, you dont reach the top trying to outskill every single player you see. You use whatever you can to get the edge on them.

Soldier or Ashe. Basic and simple characters to learn. All require just staying behind your team, point and shoot and outputting as much damage as you can. Very safe heroes that are viable. I wouldnt necessarily recommend widow unless youre a very good widowmaker. Honestly, hitscans are the best dps heroes you can play as. You just have to have decent positioning and awareness (in case of being flanked)

Depends. 76 and torb are good shouts but Junk, Mei and reaper can be oppressive AF in some cases.
