What are "scrims"?

I’ve looked up what they are in Overwatch but no solid answer.
I’ve seen people saying stuff like “[Overwatch league team] scrims” What does it mean?

Thanks in advance!

It’s short for scrimmage
Organised practice games outside of tournaments between teams

This is about it. Two teams meet and play together in organized games for the sake of practicing against another team.

The experience of fighting against another organized team alongside your organized team can often be a lot different than a regular comp game (even if you’re 6 stacking), so getting that practice in is essential. It’s also an easy way to test out strategies on certain maps without waiting for the matchmaker to give you those maps.

Scrims is probably the only fun thing left to an degree other than custom games.

Everyone else has said it but I would add that they are fun and help you to specialise in your role, because you can get and give feedback in a learning environment (it’s the convention to not really care about the outcome of scrims as you are just practicing and learning).

If you want to get involved, try some of the community discord channels, especially ones that mention PUGs (pick up groups) or solo entry tournaments. Elo Hell is probably the biggest.
