im so confused. just played in a game where dps were saying we dont have main heals and thats why were losing (imo it was because they both wanted to play hitscan into rein but thats just my humble opinion) we were ana, moira
now i asked in game to which they waited until right before they left to say
"main supps are like mercy and lucio flexs are like ana and moira the heros you were

now as someone who plays their fair share of mercy i have never heard someone say mercy is a main supp its usually the opposite 9literally people say get off her bc shes not a main supp) so what are main supps and are they just diff things to diff people? like will it change based on what people want on the team

It is more you have a âmainâ healer that does exactly that, the main heals. And a flex that offers some key utility to give your comp and advantage.
who is main and who is flex has always been a discussion (same with main tank and off tank).
Generally flex supports are Ana, Zen, Kiri, Illari
main supports Mercy Lucio Brig Bap
I see Mercy as a pocket healer. I donât know what it means, and I think itâs old terminology that doesnât apply anymore.

Theyâre referring to a healer with high output on heals. Mercy, Moira etc. Low healing supports donât pair well. Say youâre running a zen/lucio, in this comp you dont really have main heals, you have a lot of utility but low healing numbers.
a good comp is a high output support with a high utility support. Ana/Brig Ana/Lucio type comp. Supports want to be able to keep each other alive and watch out for the other one. Like in the Brig ana comp Brig is there to keep the Ana alive, same with Lucio hes there to peel for the Ana.

Probably some noobs/children with their unique view of the world
For the most part nowadays, someone asking for Mercy is asking for a pocket healer or dmg boost for themselves.
Occasionally, its people who want rez capability but donât have any clue about healers - because the reason they are begging for heals is the very reason a Mercy wouldnât survive, i.e. generally poor dps or tank.
I canât stand most Lucios as there are so many speed Lucios who do no heals now and play by themselves.
And so many people still underestimate the healing capability of a moira because theyâve been traumatized by crap DPS moiras who ignore people dying to to dmg. Which is funny, cuz those ones are generally not great dps either.

Playing hitscan into Rein isnât an issue, 2 hitscans asking for a âmain healerâ is the problem lol, Mercy isnât a main healer she provides utility to a DPS + healing when it is needed - a âmainâ healer would be Bap/Ana etc who provides large amounts of healing to all characters, tanks especially
Compared to lets say, playing with Mercy/Zen who do very little healing but excel in other areas⌠For most people âmain healerâ means someone who does a huge amount of healing to bolster their own plays because they take too much dmg⌠Tank specificallyâŚ
Main healers are considered Bap Ana Kirko Lifeweaver and Mercy to a degree those with high sustained healing or high burst.
Brig and Lucio are Aoe healers and are far weaker healers but they can compliment main healers but they are usually bad together

that was an ow1 thing, like main tank too. Honestly all heroâs have the potential to heal well and not heal well given the right or wrong situation (team makeup, enemy team makeup, map, etc.)
