What’s your favorite Chekhov’s Gun?

Chekhov’s Gun refers to an element of the story that is brought up once but never brought up again or followed on. A good example of this for Overwatch is the 2016 Christmas comic where we see Reaper stalking a family that Chu confirmed was related to him somehow.

What’s your favorite plot point that the writers have yet to follow through on? Mine is either the aforementioned Reaper one or Baptiste venturing to find Mercy with Sombra’s help.

I’m also pretty eager to find out about Reaper’s family - but more than that, I need to know what McCree’s “other business” is that’s keeping him from joining up with Overwatch.

For a trail that I hope to see more of, Casino, the F1 racer with a mech named after Monaco’s royalty. I’d love to see where that leads, as well as any possible ties with Maximillien/Talon.

The Petras Act is another big one I want to see a follow up for. Perhaps one of the enemy factions in OW2 will be enforcing it? Perhaps Helix?

Well since it’s McCree it’s obviously Deadlo- oh wait… yeah what exactly would he be busy with? The only other things he’s really done since the fall of Overwatch are run from the police and that whole encounter with Talon where he dropped that mysterious cube to them to save everyone.

I don’t like Chekhov guns at Overwatch too much , because life shows that Blizzard doesn’t think them through, but simply hang this tiny lore details with hope of using them later to make their lore look more thoughtful (BEEN HERE ALL ALONG, sorry, couldn’t resist). Good examples are Doomfist’s glove and Solider’s Reflections photo. I’m upset by the thought that the game lore is so poorly designed, and therefore I do not want more reminders about it. Theorising about this things prove itseld useless due to fact, that their outcomes usually can not be predicted at all because of this writing style.

From active guns, it would be very interesting for me to hear something about Reyes family and find out what is happening in Helix - in the article about Doomfist’s escape, it is mentioned that Talon’s employees were introduced there, but it seems to me that the whole Helix has some connection to Talon.

Oh yeah they have a terrible tendency to do that. I find it fun to poke fun at all the times they have, which is a lot.

I need to know why Reaper stalks people and why Junkrat has people stalking him!

Will Winston ever want a banana?

There are two other founders of the Deadlock Gang, its not just Ashe. It could still be related to that.

That’s because of his treasure. Althought I would really like to see the treasure come up again.

Reaper has had a wife and son in the past. This was confirmed in the same comic that revealed soldier was gay

Alright let’s reread that… ah, a singular line mentioning how Reaper was able to raise a family. Sheesh talk about anti-climatic. No wonder that got overlooked so easily considering it was right next to Soldier being gay and the short story as a whole was kind of underwhelming imo.

My fav is Reaper family. Oh… That’s in the main topic, I guess

I suspect it might be something to do with also being Joel Morricone

That is not Chekhov’s Gun. ‘Chekhov’s Gun’ is a concept that describes how every element of a story should contribute to the whole. It comes from Anton Chekhov’s famous book writing advice: 'If in the first act you have hung a pistol on the wall, then in the following one it should be fired. What you are referring to are “dropped and/or unexplored plot threads”

Emre Sarioglu. They just mentioned him one time and never since.

I’m boggling at what is underneath the Reaper mask.

Show us the face, cowards.

Easy, Torb’s meatballs
